Not that hard actually. FVV + DFS provides the salary matching and the rest is just which picks to make it worthwhile to the Mavs. The only major issue is whether the Rockets get enough time to see how well he recovered from his injury. Since he's slated to return right before the trade deadline. I don't like Kyrie personally, but he's probably the best PG the Rockets can realistically get this year. Upside is that you pair him up with KD, Sengun, and Amen for potentially 4 all-star caliber players whose talents complement each other. Downside of course is injuries and age.
If I'm San Antonio, I'm trading Castle + Sochan + whatever picks for Kyrie. They are not a contender and will not be a contender unless Harper becomes an All Star. With Kyrie that completely changes things.
Saw that Sacramento was possibly blowing up their team. I wouldn't mind Dennis coming back. He played great for Rockets and was great with Pistons. 14 million a year. Wonder if Rockets could make that work.
Why not roll with what we've got, and let them gel a little before we are trading away assets? We are 9 games into the KD era. Amen is learning how to be a quasi-PG. Reed is basically a Rookie. Sengun continues to grow as a playmaker. KD is KD, but everyone is figuring out how they all fit on this team with him. How to complement one other's skill sets. Let's see where things are in January, and reevaluate after a 30-35 game sample.
For this year, the main problem is the NTC for Fred. He has to approve it. Does he? This offseason would seem more likely.
The NTC exist because he would lose his bird right if he were traded and then decline his PO. This is not the case due to him being out for the year, since there's zero chance he doesn't pick up the option. So zero financial implications in a trade. At worst the Rockets add a trade kicker to his deal and then give Dallas slightly more stuff to make up for FVV's bigger salary. So a trade can easily be done. Just a matter of price.
If so, then I could see that happening then. I am not too familiar with the contract details and how it would work out. The Rockets FO apparently love FVV so we will see how much they really love him.
Whether there is zero chance of FVV turning down PO or not, as long as he has not exercised that option, the NBA treats it as a one year deal. Hence, FVV has option of declining a trade. I only see FVV accepting PO before trade deadline is if Rockets want to trade hin some where he wants to go. Dallas is not likely where he wants to be.
not sure why the kings didn’t start the rebuild this offseason or even last season around the time they traded Fox. But if they want to move off Schroder for a 2nd rounder I’m game.
Schroder has changed teams 10 times in 7 seasons, this would be 11. There's a reason no teams keep him around for very long.
I agree our guys need more time. But I don’t see Amen’s best fit as running the point. Maybe there’s some massive breakthrough at some point during the season, but I would bet against it. I don’t want him worrying about setting up the offense. I want Amen free to create havoc on both sides of the ball. I think we need a point guard that can play meaningful minutes on this team.
If Kyrie is healthy, he would fit our timeline perfectly. He just signed a 3 year contract, with a player option for the third year. Assuming he picks up the option and plays 3 years with us, we could then transition to Reed, if he's ready. I like the idea of FVV, DFS, and picks. I don't think the '27 PHX pick will be as valuable as others are thinking, so I'm fine including it.
This is incorrect. FVV has to waive his no trade rights to be included in any trade this league year, period. That is set in stone. He is not going to do that. Please everyone stop including FVV in any fake trade.
Please no Kyrie. We don’t need that kinda crazy on our team. We’ve seen prime KD and Kyrie fail already.
Always injured Kyrie at max is an idiotic idea. It would absolutely wreck our ability to keep our young core. We are already a championship roster if Amen and Reed step up, which is a much better gamble than that flat earth idiot.
