    over-simpication and convenient generlization

not all Dem lawmakers changed their mind; the Republicans also changed their mind.

Here are the Names of Eight Senate Democrats, Most of whom
Up For Re-election, who negotiated The Compromise

these 8 Dems got the GOPs to change their original position
    • all GOPers in the US Senate, to be followed by
      • ~~240+ GOP in house and
      • Trump
Dems did not get what they had originally asked for, they got less; ditto for the GOP

    the compromise includes
    • GOPs agreeing to increase funding for SNAP benefits
    • several thousand of Gov employees, fired during the shutdown, will be re-hired with back pay
    • with the re-opening of Gov, pedophile-protector Mike Johnson will run out of excuse not to swear in newly elected Dem lawmakers
      • meaning that Epstein files will be make available to Congress

40 days of a shutdown just to cave in. So fking stupid. Didn't even accomplish anything besides a pinkie promise which means jack sht.

The Republicans are a evil group that defends pedos and willing to strave the nation out but at least they arent spineless fks like the Democrats.

Oh the gop aint budging or refusing to compromise so let's just give up.

Banking on the hope that americans will remember the effects of the sht BBB and vote accordingly is such a sht strategy

    Democrats are controlled opposition.

This is why people don't vote.

This is what a manufactured duopoly does to your government.

    ****ing stupid.

Anyone craving a couple of grounded/non-hysterical takes should check out Will (of Clutchfans) on Tim Miller’s podcast from Monday. Although the THC thing is concerning, is that definitely happening? Seems like that would decimate half of Montana’s economy, for one.

Trump caves in to the demands of the 8 Dem Senator, ending the Gov shutdown, but leading to more political headaches for the GOP.

The president was back at it on Monday, promising an imminent solution to America’s growing health care crisis — on which he has repeatedly failed to deliver in the past

Trump and Republicans once again own the issue of health care, with millions of citizens — not just those on ACA plans — afflicted by rising premiums and high deductibles against the backdrop of a wider cost-of-living crisis..

most probably, the GOP cannot fix the immediate issue of the subsidies — and convince voters they have a serious solution to this and other affordability questions — their 2026 midterm election hopes could take a dive.

Trump’s fogginess on health care is nothing new.
    .
His past failures to deliver on health care, explain the Republican Party’s new but familiar political nightmare on
an issue that causes anxiety for tens of millions of voters.

I am 100% certain that my senator Tim Kaine was tapped to vote yes on this because he's either not up for reelection until 2030 or he's retiring.

Democratic "leadership" thinks they can pull the rug out on us, feign ignorance or pretend it's a victory, and we'll forget about it by the time the 8 traitors are on the ballot again.

I plan to vote against Mark Warner in the 2026 Dem primary out of principle. This coordinated collapse and capitulation cannot go unpunished.

Whether corrupt, craven, or cowardly, **** these people. God deliver us from this oligarchical hellscape.

Trump has his own followers and there's no doubt there. I'll never defend Trump. He's human garbage but we agree that Dems are straight puss

Don't think the 8 are rogue senators. Schumer negotiated with the 8 who can best survive the political fallout from caving.

I don't mind that they didn't get their ACA subsidy thing. Not on SNAP nor Obamacare, so the whole shutdown fight only one time affected me when I decided to go to the airport extra early because of possible delays -- and then was not delayed. For Trump to give in on the subsidies would be such a humiliating defeat for him that there is no way he would do it. But, I am mad they didn't get better concessions than they did. A promise of an ACA vote is worth nothing. The other things are Republican promises to stop doing illegal and/or self-destructive things. E.g., fully funding SNAP is supposed to be done anyway, that's not a concession. The protection for federal workers only delays their layoffs till the end of January. And the mass firings are probably illegal anyway because they tread all over the mandates enshrined in legislation that were given to the agencies in the first place. So that's not a concession. I don't think they actually won anything at all.

So, I'm mad that they totally lost on the negotiation and I think they are completely inept. If I had a chance to primary a Dem senator, I'd do it, but I live in Texas. I am tempted to say they should never have started the shutdown if they didn't have the balls to see it through. But, I am happy about 2 things from all this losing: (1) voters saw (and I hope they were paying attention) that Trump fought to take away their SNAP benefits to use them as hostages in a political negotiation; and (2) by not compromising on ACA subsidies, they doomed a lot of people to losing their health insurance and I hope those people are going to remember that it was the Republicans who did that to them.

While I hate that 8 chicken **** Dems folded, the gop will never negotiate on the ACA credits in good faith. The positive is SNAP will get back up, the lady from Az can get confirmed and we can get back on the E Files

Shumer has to go, nothing happens like this without his old ass being in the middle of it. Pelosi did the right thing, now it's time for Chucky to Exit Stage Left

Why am I not surprised corrupt lawmakers are making sure to take care of themselves?

Maybe they should just make it so that the FBI has to inform ANYBODY if they are under investigation by the FBI? That wouldn't be a problem AT ALL for gathering evidence of wrongdoing.

[CNN] What’s in the bill to reopen the federal government

Addendum - Tubberville inserted language into the resolution that lets him sue the *&%$ out of the FBI for following the law during a court authorized investigation. Little Tommy is trying his best to be just like Daddy Donnie.

Tuberville can sue the government for $500,000 under deal ending shutdown

I'm beginning to think this entire shutdown was a scam to let congress in on spreading the grift around.

Looks like none of the people on this list are up for re-election at the 2026 midterms. How convenient. Tell me that wasn't planned.
