Because they haven't had continuity on the offensive side of the ball since Kubiaks. This includes RS and BOB not being on the same page. Cal and Hannah need to mandate to Ryan's, Caserio they have to fix the ol next off-season or they won't have a job
I don't think they know how to fix the OL. That's why I suggested they hire a coach with successfull experience at recognizing and developing OL talent. Easier said than done, I know, but it's necessary.
Barring some unforeseen event, it sounds like you want to go OL on the first pick and possibly the second too. I'm all for it.
I think they can identify ol talent, but they've had 3 different ol coaches and systems they've been drafting talent for. It's impossible to draft a cohesive ol when you're drafting players that fit different systems.
The Texans have 3 top 50 picks. Those are guys who should see significant snaps in year one. We should expect that from a competent organization. If it were me, I'd go OT (Proctor or World most likely) in Round 1. In the second I'd be looking at LB & DT or 2 DTs to shore up the defense. If Anthony, Allen or Styles is there id pick them and a DT otherwise I'd want 2 of Banks, Washington, Miller or McDonald.
Guys I'd target round 3 and beyond: RB Jonah Coleman Justice Haynes OL Max Iheanachor PJ Williams Monroe Freeling Blake Miller Aamil Wagner Carter Smith Chase Bisontis Keylan Ratledge Caden Green JC Davis Trey Zuhn Earnest Green DT Dontay Corleone Darrell Jackson Zane Durant Dominique Orange Anthony Smith DeMonte Capehart LB Jake Galaday Whit Weeks Taurean York Isaiah Glasker
Last year the general consensus here for our first pick was OT Kelvin Banks. Unfortunately, he was long gone before it would have been our pick. Incidentally, Kelvin's PFF score thus far is a very solid 68.3. All things being fairly equal, which position group do you prefer us to choose from with our first pick? For me it's OL. I could be persuaded to go TE if there is a super stud available, but I don't believe there is. Anyway, our OL needs two-three impact OL. For me, it's a no-brainer to go OL with our first pick, unless someone like S Caleb Downs magically drops to us. How about you?
I am on the fence with a TE in round one, I "think" Stover can be that guy and we have Jordan coming back although he may be injury prone, but there is no denying what a stud TE can do. I am leaning O Line help with the first 2 picks, but I like where you're going..............Casserio CANNOT miss on O Line picks next year, I personally think if he misses he is gone
I probably would wait on a TE depending on who is on the board. But you can't depend on Stover or Jordan, they're always hurt.
If Proctor (or, maybe, Mauigoa) is gone when the Texans select I would probably look to trade back and grab either Isaiah World or Vega Ioane in the 20s.
I'm not doubting you, but why are you so high on him? His PFF scores seem rather mediocre, although I certainly acknowledge that PFF is not the "end-all".
