I'm too lazy to research, but I thought Howard sucked at LG and the reason they were looking at RG for him.
One wrinkle for the OL is that while OG might be a need for us as a team, it is the least valuable position on the line in terms of draft capital expected. Oversimplified, not only was Green a poor performer, but drafting an OG that high in the draft is value-wise not sensible. First round OL should be tackles or maybe centers, almost never guards. What that means for our needs is while we might need an OG, we should not think about drafting one before the 2nd at the earliest as the other teams will also drain the OT and C options we should otherwise desire. If we wait, we start chasing our tails where we need help across all of those positions and drafting them out of value order means we're getting subpar options across them all too - and lands us where we are.
Don't know if you're talking about my post but, yeah, seems like the best path forward is OT in Round 1 (@Jayded). That guy hopefully pushes either Howard or Ersery to LG. Id throw some serious coin at a free agent center or offer a premium pick to a rebuilding squad for a decent center but the Texans need a vet at the pivot. I think Proctor/Ersery/Cade Mays/Ingram/Howard would be a drastic improvement with 5 more premium picks and some cap room to spare.
Yep, Proctor and trading back into the 1st for Ione and signing one of McGovern/Pocic/Karras to be the C in FA. Ersery/Ioane/Pocic/Howard/Proctor and drafting a RB like Singleton/ Blocking TE Delp and I can guarantee you the GL issues would be solved.
Statistically our OL is much improved from last year but it's still not remotely good enough. PFF has our OLine ranked #24 in the league. The OL is, BY FAR, the weakest position room on our team and that is where our efforts to improve must be focused. After last season we were fed the Kool-aid that it wasn't our personnel but rather the scheme. We drafted Tae in round 2 and I think he is going to be fine after some rookie year lumps. Caserio signed some OL and Ingram has been great but Tomlinson is awful. I'd like to see us draft the OL HARD in 26' (I believe it's a deep draft for OL) and let's build a high-quality, young, OL, that can play together as one unit for years to come. Let's getr done!
I thought he was a G/T...dude is 6'6" You don't see centers that tall basically ever. Not saying he's a bad prospect elsewhere on the line at all.
He's playing center today against Mizz. and is looking very good. He can really play anywhere along the ol effectively. Big smart, powerful dude with good movement skills.
Probably true, but there's definitely a place for a big, smart powerful/ athletic OL somewhere on the Texans OL.
There are 9 Centers 6'5 or taller including 4 that are 6'6. I dont know if Zuhn will be playing center in the NFL or not, but he looked good at center tonight and from what I've read he's a sharp guy. Like I said, the Texans could use a guy like this on their OL.
Zuhn can play any place on the line. That kind of flexibility is very appealing to Caserio. I wouldn’t be surprised if we draft him. the only problem is that Caserio picking OL guys has not worked out very well, although I think Ersery was a good pick.
It's going to get better, since Caserio knows exactly the type of ol Caley, Popovich want drafted. If fans can be patient and CJ improves the Texans have a very good chance to be good for a 4-5 year period.
