Team high +25. He’s not flashy, so a lot of posters aren’t going to appreciate him. But Bari is critical to our success. Much more so IMO than fan favorite Tari, who was -12.
He’s a good defender he can defend multiple positions. That’s all great. But stop ****ing shooting threes if you suck dick at it. Shoot a two if you can make those, (maybe you can’t) shoot your mid range post up shoot the corner three stop dribbling stop ever shooting threes from not the corner
Oh shut up. He was shooting .38 from 3 on 5 3pa before this game and shot a decent .33 on 9 attempts this game, including a couple clutch 3s.
Tari is overrated on this site. He is not good against good teams where the game is a half court game and the defense is tight. People forget because he had some good games against injured/sub .500 teams, but he’s never been better or as impactful than Jabari.
Lol both are very different player types, yet probably mixed together bc they play similar positions and their names end in -ari.....
Jabari haters are just box score watchers. He does so much more than just hoist 3’s, but when he misses a few the haters come out in groves. His defense is near elite, but still a bit inconsistent. He is one of our best defensive rebounders and has been very good in clutch situations. All this at 22 years old and playing for the first time with players that actually see him in the offense, unlike FVV and Jalen who consistently froze him out.
Very much facts. But I've long accepted there are plenty here who don't know a thing about basketball and clearly don't actually watch the games. We wouldn't be anywhere near the team we are without Jabari.
I don't mind him hoisting 3's, in fact that's all he should be doing on offense, no dribbling, no trying to post up. He's perfect just spotting 3's, get offensive put backs and maybe shoot 2-3 mid ranges if he's open.
Nah he's probably the most replaceable player we have. You could put Dorian Finney Smith in (assuming he had a working ankle) and get the same result insofar as the other FOUR players who credibly play the 4 spot (Durant, Sengun, Eason and Thompson) are just flat-out better players or are more defensively useful (Eason).
Dude is playing in crunch time for a reason. He’s very versatile and exactly the type of super role player big man every team wants and pays a premium for. That being said, I don’t know if I’ve seen a “shooter” with such great mechanics shoot so poorly in my life. I wonder if he needs to see an optometrist or something to see about maybe fixing some issues that mess with depth perception or something. You have to assume he’s hitting them in practice though to get the approval from the coaches so I dunno. But other than that, as he gets stronger he’s just going to get that much more valuable defensively, and maybe add in some easier shots he can hit more consistently on offense. I continue to see a lot of Al Horford in him long term but for some reason he thinks he needs to be LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Durant.
Am I taking crazy pills? Why are people acting like Bari isn’t shooting well? He’s posting a career high from 3 despite taking more a game.
How is he shooting poorly? He's shot very well at every level except long 2's, shots he takes very few of and nobody should ever take.
JSJ takes too many mid-range shots that aren't at the end of the shot clock. As a result, JSJ's TS% is in the 35th percentile. Just because a smaller guy is on JSJ, it does not turn a turnaround shot from 12-15 feet into a good shot (i.e., read as efficient). JSJ is having a very good year (a lot of it is playing with better players).
His TS% is low because he never gets bunnies at the rim and takes very few FTA. I agree the mid range shots aren't the most efficient early in a possession, but he isn't actually shooting them poorly.
Bari is a confidence shooter. He shoots well when he is confident and poorly when his confidence is shaken. His confidence has gone up quite a bit this season. He's trying to be more aggressive in the midrange but not entirely successful. He also doesn't have Amen's and Tari's reaction time to grab offensive rebound and put back. That doesn't help his efficiency. But he's important for our offensive rebounding because he often keeps the ball alive tipping it to a teammate. That doesn't show up in the boxscores.
He has the tendency to think he's a superstar and he'll look off KD and Sengun and it pisses me off when he does that but I dont think he sucks per se. He doesnt pass as much as he should thats all. This title made me laugh out loud though.
True, many here would rather see Morant dribble one on one and score while diving to the ground for entertainment purposes than to actually see this team win in a boring fashion sometimes. I blame AI for the thug culture fans.
He's shooting 35.7% on shots that aren't at the rim or behind the 3-point line by dunks and threes (40% by basketball reference). I consider both numbers poor for a player who is not a playmaker (i.e., playmakers get some leeway as they don't have much choice near the end of the clock). I consider the volume of mid-range shots to be the worst number, and I consider deciding to take bad shots to be a part of shooting. If he kept the same FTAs, FT%, Rim %, MR %, 3 pt%, but took rim, mid range, and 3 point shots at the ratios that Tari does, his TS% would be 59.4%. His TS% is low because he takes way too many unforced mid-range shots for his skill level. Oddly, Tari isn't forcing rim shots like he has in the past so it isn't like I'm using a guy that is relentless on the rim this season.
