this is the spurs game all over again. Reed shows up. Amen and Sengun are ghost. KD is doing his best KD minus the turnovers. Jabrick is Jabrick.
Jabari not guarding Wemby, Jabari not guarding Giannis. Hmmm. Jabari is the missing a link on offense, I'll get to his defense later. He has the advantage nightly with these shorter non defenders guarding him. However, he lacks a post up game not because of his touch, but because of his lack of core strength. He is easily moved off his spot. On the other end, if I were Jabari, I would seriously feel disrespected if my coach wasn't confident in my defensive abilities, because he keeps putting me on non shooting smaller players. Jabari has trouble with Chet, Wemby, and Giannis. I think we are harder on Jabari than on Reed defensively because Jabari was labeled as this defensive titan who could guard 4 position in college. Reed was never considered a dynamic defender, just a scrapper defender with great hands. With that said, Jabari needs to work on his turn around jumper in the post because teams are giving him that all game long. He is constantly guarded by smaller players for a majority of the game but he still looks super inept with his back to the basket. Once he develops that and draws doubles, Durant will get even more clean looks from 3 point range, unlocking another dimension offensively.
Feels like when the offense runs through Sengun there is more movement and passing. With KD its more just ball watching for him to score. Might be because we don't have a real point guard who can create offense. Amen's lack of shooting is really limiting his playmaking
Alpi needs to set screens every once in a while off the ball for RS and Jabari just to give the backside D something to think about while Durant is coming off that Adam's screen.
But we let Amen tard out with that Leeroy Jenkins, Teen Wolf Offense BOWLSH!T over and over. Acting like an 8th grader attempting his first crossover ever as he barrels into 3 defenders, goofs the ball, then ends up on the ground. Or he gets it back, jumps 15ft in the air, floats forever with amazing hand time for a 2-3 ft away gimme putt shot that he misses by 10 inches.
