You Maga ****s who b**** about welfare queens, look at it this way: this is another government subsidy for corporations who pay their employees less than living wages.

Aside from the legit disabled, most people living below the poverty line who qualify for SNAP are simply too dumb or unskilled to find jobs that pay a living wage.

I'm going to get misquoted, or misunderstood here.

The GOP senators are huge hypocrites, they have $$$ to spend elsewhere just not americans

One thing they aren't wrong about, is the majority of the $$$ being allocated is never going to be seen by the american people. Its going to be gobbled up by the insurance companies that make excuses to not reimburse physicians and then deny coverage in scheme where people are left with high deductibles etc which negate having insurances in the first place.

The ACA has done some good...but its also worsened healthcare as a whole. The consolidation driven by its mandatory frivolous burdens/administrative costs forced reduced competition that enabled large corporations and insurance companies. Unfortunately, the GOP is being run by evil monsters to where I don't blame people for not understanding that the ACA in effect did destroy healthcare. While costs as a whole have always risen...then propotion dedicated to administrative bloat has exponentially increased definitely making this model unsustainable.

The ACA was a republican plan - Obama compromised to get it in.

We should dump it and just do Universal healthcare - stop trying to support an industry which should not exist, there is ZERO reason for insurance in healthcare, they provide NOTHING for their service they are a tax- just do medicare for all, and be done with it.

Everyone would save a ton of money on healthcare...and insurance can stay in biz with home insurance, car and other areas, healhcare should not be FOR PROFIT.

So less than 1% of US WalMart employees are on SNAP? Thanks for posting that, I always believed that made up talking point about WalMart subsidizing its workforce with SNAP benefits, but I am glad I know better now.

So, the administration now wants states to claw back any SNAP funds that were distributed in the early days of this month, including the partial ones.

At this point, we are not watching a political party because this is in no way how a political party behaves--the list of nations who intentionally starve their own people is not a list you'd want to be on if you are part of a representative government.

So less than 1% on government assistance is fine with you? What's your actual threshold - 5%? 3%? At what point does a billion-dollar company subsidizing its payroll with SNAP, Medicaid, and housing assistance become a problem? Or is any percentage acceptable?

It just really isn't subsidizing its payroll with SNAP. Less than 1% of the employees are doing it, which means 99+% of its employees are not doing it. I would eliminate SNAP entirely, so they might lose 0.9% of their workforce. I think they would adapt. My position is that it isn't on the corporation to stop people from using government programs, that is up to those people and the government. What WalMart needs to do is sell products. Part of their business is having stores, warehouses, trucks, etc. which requires a workforce. They offer employment within this workforce at X pay and Y benefits. If someone wants to take the job in exchange for X and Y, then that is how the labor market works. Taking issue with that is just complaining about free exchange. It would be even better if the government didn't take a piece of X along the way.

Yuck. Looks like Dems are going to cave again. Almost as bad/empty of a deal as Trump's trade negotiations with China.

They would have walked away with more by just giving the orange man everything he demanded before the shutdown started.

I don't mind this now, because that means the POINT was made, Epstein files will be released, the GOP will have to own all the Negative things this bill does, and the midterms will be a reset and we can impeach Trump.

Watch over 100 GOP members side with the Epstein release as they know that there are half nude teenagers in pics with Trump - bring on the lynch mob, time to tar and feather the orange idiot.

Extremist Dems lose again. They were willing to literally shut down aviation in this country to get free healthcare for illegals and deficit-fund another $1.5 trillion of spending… exactly what caused the working class crippling inflation under Biden. They just never learn. Thankfully moderates saved us from the “burn it down liberals”.
