9/11? Worst thing I have seen in my lifetime in America and abroad. As bad as the terrorist attack was, the way the USA handled it 100X as bad. Americans lost many rights and protections under The Patriot Act. Americans changed how they viewed the world and lost empathy… two wars that lasted over 20 years straight. The expansion of Executive power under GW, Obama and now Trump. It has gotten to the point in politics in the USA that I don’t even care that much about what Mamdani ends up doing - he has ran as a respectable, polite person. He actually smiles and interacts with real people and he isn’t negative all the time. He doesn’t act like the entire world is clawing to destroy us. We need more optimism and empathy and understanding of what it means to be a person. Trump won’t live for ever and Americans will eventually adjust to social media and realize it’s a cess pool. I look forward to more enlightened and compassionate leaders that actually do care about Americans and all people… not just money and fighting to hold on old bigoted traditions.
