I think Capella is a much better defender than Adams. Adams is a phenomenal offensive rebounder, but Capella is a better defensive rebounder. Adams sets some of the best screens in the league. Capella is not a bad screener and has better hands and better hops on lobs. I really think by year end and maybe sooner Capella may get more backup minutes than Adams. If we still need a guard at the deadline Adams has a larger contract for matching purposes so if we are going for a trade for a starter it may take his contract to get it done. I would like them to abandon the double big lineup with Sengun and Adams or Capella. It is giving up way too much on the defensive end of the floor and cause Sengun to get into foul trouble, because he ends up having to guard the perimeter too often.
Yeah, started wondering if he was on some inside gambling racket and was throwing the game to earn an extra $30k on the side.
We can still go 3-1 against San Antonio and OKC. Just lost the first one. Gonna have to learn a lot from these losses.
They can but you have to give the opponent credit lol, it also sounds like the Rockets can do this and that but the other team has the same amount of Talent or better talent.
Yes, I think Jalen Green had negative and at best neutral trade value. He was overall inefficient, inconsistent, limited defensively and struggled in playoffs. When Jalen shot well- he scored well and the Rockets won… but he didn’t do it often enough.
Rockets got dominated in their own game, got out rebounded, got out hustled and got out 3eed by the Spurs. I know people are gonna call me a schizo after he shot well, but the reality is playing Reed so much killed us. You just cant have a midget out there when the entire enemy is 6'6 or taller. And lets be real, Reed is also the reason we play zone. You cant go man to man because the dude he is guarding will get a freebie all the time. Its not just him though, there was definitely a lack of effort in rebounding and closing out on 3s. Reed is a midget so obv he will be ineffective, but I expected more hustle from Tari, Amen and Jabari. Jabari esp, Barnes is freaking 6'7 how'd get owned by a washed dude??? Tari just as bad, 6'6 with 7'2 wingspan and large as hands, only 3 boards? Rox lost rebound battle in the perimeter, Castle and Keldon Johnson werent box out properly and would get boards for 2nd chances or wide open 3s. This is where we miss Jalen and Dbrooks. These 2 werent efficient and can be boneheads and chuckers but they brought the vibes and intensity. DB was the defensive heart and would lose his **** when the team starts slacking. Green is prone to 3/15 nights but he is there scrapping for boards and grinding on D. When we beat the Spurs it was DB guarding Wemby straight up, giving up almost a foot in height but doing it with grit, grind and effort. Ime looked furious and rightfully so. Hopefully he lays into the team and they start putting in more effort. DFS needs to come back stat. What even is the point of zone defense if we lose the rebound battle? The whole point of zone is prevent easy basket and we get rebounds because everyone is inside the 3 pt line. If we lose the reb battle the zone is pointless you just give up open 3s.
Efficiency isnt everything. Castle dominated the game and clinched it for the Spurs while being inefficient. And no Green wasnt limited defensively he was pretty good since he was willing to take contact, very athletic and had adequate size and length for his position.
Not going to over react to this one game. I do think the Rockets need to lean into reed more as the lead ball handler when he's in the game. He's showing growth in every area and more than the shooting and overall play tonight I saw him take a step forward as a floor general when he was allowed to run the offense.
I also was never a fan of the double bigs lineup. I do like Adams as a sub, but the minutes of him/Capela together with Sengun should reduced to minimum. I didn’t think we should have acquired Capela instead of a backup guard, but if we can get a good deal for Adams contact, than the Capela acquisition might turn into a really successful one. I mean in all of our three losses so far one of the things that killed us was turnovers, so a backup to FVV is still needed.
... when Jalen scored 30 points efficiently, he netted a handful of wins. Becuase he never did it regularly. It's hilarious the vitriol KD is copping this game. I wonder how many of those same posters watched Jalen do the exact same thing (or worse) for 70-80% of his games over the past 4 years but instead viewed it through a ridiculously embarrassing lens and said he's on his way to superstardom.
I was saying this the other day. They are using their youth, speed, and athleticism to win games. No set plays to players strengths, or exploiting teams weakness. Only problem with that is sometimes it works out sometimes it don't. You will always come across a team that can do one of those things better or just straight up out hustle. Boths teams were playing highly erratic. You have to have sets you can settle into, as a go to. Slow down the tempo get the crowd out of it.
Wemby is the biggest mismatch no matter if teams figured him out or not, he is still the biggest mismatch and his teammates that are no slouches either are feeding off of that. You got to have a total team effort or a wild Luka game to beat the Spurs right now. Barring injuries.
