Man, every morning I check out this thread to see 4-6 new pages and it makes me curious to see what Reed news broke, but then I realize it's the same 4-6 pages from the previous day. And the day before that. And the day before that. Well, at least it's driving up the hits for Clutch's ad revenue.
It includes his outlet passing. He's probably the best on the team. Too bad he's too short to get a lot of defensive rebounds.
I think Tyrese Haliburton is the closest in today's NBA to Phoenix Steve Nash. He's a clear 1A on his team despite being a pass first player. He's averaged 20/10 in the last three seasons in Indy vs Nash's 18/11 in his first three seasons in Phoenix. While Hali shoots slightly more, pace and scoring is up in today's NBA across the board vs the mid 2000s. I believe that if Indy had another potent scorer besides Siakam, Hali would take fewer shots. His shots and scoring already decreased once Siakam came on board. He's very unselfish. I'm not comparing Reed to Hali. Just pointing out that the pass-first, high octane offense PG archetype is not dead or unsuccessful in today's NBA.
No. It's just called being a rational human being and not being vindictively so negative towards a player... At one point you actually had good, rational, reasoned takes so something must have happened in your personal life to where you have become that poster that just takes it upon themselves direct all their anger of the internet at someone (i.e. Reed). Try harder..... This is about being a negative, loser on an anonymous forum. You aren't expressing fandom. This is my full quote:
It doesn't matter what flies with you, the Rocket's organization understands context and will have patience (or leeway) with Reed as he either develops or doesn't. They have shown they have no problem moving players who don't fit the program.
What the **** does the organisation have anything to do with it. I'm simply telling the dude he doesn't get to tell me when I can have an opinion, just like every other poster who wants to actually discuss the team and not say anything at all because "give him time." Tell me, do you cup his balls when you're sucking him off or just go in deepthroat style?
You can not compare Reed to Jalen. Two totally different players, playing styles; how they get their shots, minutes played, it frivolous.
I wasn't comparing them as players. My point was that Reed is improving in many areas, and as long as he keeps improving then I'm not going to worry. Jalen had lots of areas he didn't improve much even after 4 years, but folks were still supporting him.
Jalen's struggles were easy to internalize for a fan base that was fine accumulating a deep pool of talent as part of a rebuild. Jalen sucking was the difference in getting the 8th pick or the 4th pick. It remained that way for years. Then last year happened. And look at what this fan base did to Jalen the minute he cost us a first round playoff series. This year we have a chance to win the title and that might be the case for the foreseeable future. There are no freebies anymore. The stakes aren't what they were in 2021. I'm not sure why this is a complicated issue. Yes, Jalen had a much longer leash. The minute Jalen sucking meant our season ended Jalen was sent packing amid a furious fanbase revolt against him. There's no secret "we hate Reed" society. Some of us are just Rockets fans and realize how much poor guard play might hamper our title hopes. I personally think if this team gets avg play from the PG position we win a title this year. That's the only lens through which I evaluate all of our players.
I called this out earlier but the big difference here is What is in Reed's best interest vs What is in the Houston Rocket's best interest When we were a rebuilding team what was in the team's best interest was ALSO in the player's best interest because the name of the game was growing value from our draft picks....but as the team got better and particularly because Alpi and Amen took leaps - what was in the team's best interest was no longer to develop value from draft picks unless those players could become legit all stars. That's what happened with Jalen. Frankly Reed needs a few BIG shooting nights to establish that he still has a higher ceiling(potential all star) because right now every game he plays in the NBA where there isn't that 'holy crap' moment, his potential ceiling appears smaller and at some point Houston isn't going to want to give Reed more development time if he appears to be a garden variety role player they could sign in FA any time. Aaron Holiday is still better than him today - those are facts. Reed has to show that his ceiling is significantly higher than Holidays to justify the continued investment in him because the team can't afford to give time to players who help them lose games when they are a legit contending team.
I'm not saying he should start right now, nor am I saying he should get all the minutes Jalen did. Im saying I think he will keep improving the more he plays, unlike Jalen. We've won 5 games in a row. Chill out, the season has barely started. The sky isn't falling.
Reading comprehension issue? Or just want to appear cool and edgey like you aren't on a fan forum? The post I replied to said Jalen struggled but, "folks still supported him." Hence, I highlighted the fact that fans (re: folks) turned on him after the GSW series. Appreciate the 101 that fans don't make trades and GM's do. Might want to put wisdom like that behind paywall brutha. Just an idea.
