This is what you get when people look only at counting stats (and within that basically only PPG). Jalen averaged 17 ppg as a rookie and 22 his 2nd year, did you think he was a good player those years? He's not Amen, if he can't shoot he's not gonna be good. That's like saying well Shaq couldn't shoot so castle doesn't need to either. Just nonsense.
You LITERALLY just now liked a post where the person said he DOES NOT watch spurs games but castle averages points so he's good.
Not at all, I think he's got beautiful form. I just don't think he's a great 3 point shooter either. He's not remotely on the Steph/Allen/Miller level, I'm dubious he's on the Redick/Korver level too in all honesty. I think he's going to level out at good to great 3pt shooter probably fluctuating between 37-40% range overall. However, right now he does not look NBA ready in the slightest. He shoots overall like crap. He runs around like a r****ded maniac on defense and he's gambling way too much on defense. I think he could become a JJ Barea/TJ McConnell type as a medium projection, a slightly better (from distance) FVV on offense with worse defense as a ceiling. I also do not remotely however consider that a successful #3 pick. And I question whether we need to be the team he develops into that player on whilst we're all-in on a chip for the end of KD's prime. I'd be very happy if we could trade say Capela, DFS (I like Tari and Okogie) and something else for an actual steady PG and let Reed go and abuse the G league for his minutes a bit longer. Send Fred with him to teach him how to play as a midget who barely gets off the floor on drives. HE DOES NOT HAVE A 2 INCH LESS VERT THAN JA ****ING MORANT, there's no highlight dunks at all. He needs to learn how to play when you're that small and you can't go over the top. Then hopefully next year he becomes either a steady Freddy 2.0 or he replaces Fred as the backup. Is that really such an offensive take? If you like feel free to go look at the vitriol spat by the Jalen critics and come back to me on who's a more level headed, non-dickish person?
Like Jalen Green? Not all 19 point scorers are good. Not when your team plays better when you're on the bench...
Except he passes the eye test as a shooter. Jalen had 4 years of being bad. I think you can give Reed 25% of the time Jalen got, right?
How are people watching the Reed Sheppard game tomorrow? Since I got Fubo all the 'links' were seized. Might be the first game I miss in 5 years. Let's go Reed! Somewhere in the H there is a highschooler writing a song for Sheppard. IYKYK
Does it genuinely cost you 1k a year for access? If you can afford a VPN for the UK I'll register you a UK League Pass account. I can watch every game by every team with all the announcer choices and split-screen up to 4 games. I genuinely do not mind doing so for anybody who needs it as an option, it's genuinely £22.99GBP/$30.20USD a month or £149.99GBP/$197.01USD a year for the full premium league pass full HD for everything. No commercials, in-arena or studio show for every game and cheaper for the non premium version. Edit: just to say this is a serious offer is somebody does need it. Obviously I'm not just going to come out of pocket loads for everybody, but after next payday (we do monthly here rather than UK) I'm more than happy to register a "CF account" using my own cash on the monthly subscription and give the link to someone to try. If that's a viable way for people to watch without breaking the bank I'd be happy to help tbh. Nobody should have to struggle to watch all they want to watch. I may argue (fun tbh) but we're still all Rockets fans.
Lmao, seriously people are allowed to have a difference of opinion. And I'm being fairly chill and polite about it compared to the Jalen or Sengun haters, and you know that's a fact. We may not agree on which ways of evaluating the game have more validity, but I'm giving you thought out reasons based on actual numbers with bigger sample sizes than the ones you're using (years of school vs 1 year of college, 46 nba games vs 7) you genuinely can't act like I'm blind hating. Do I need to go dig up all the Jalen criticisms to remind you what that really looks like?
Green’s problem is efficiency. Castle has a 63.7% TS. That tells me he can drive to the rim and convert with high efficiency. Westbrook style maybe? Now if he can’t shoot and can’t drive either, that would be bad.
I mean people are still comparing Reed with the likes of Nash and Curry. So I can mention Amen too, and don’t need your approval.
I mean in general, I actually don't consider you any kind of hater. I respect the majority of your opinions on basketball, I just think you hold metrics (which have many inherent biases because they're all weighted by the pundits who create their formulae) too highly and completely disregard the human element, actual knowledge of the game and observations that don't show up on the stat sheets too often. Difference of philosophy sure, but to paraphrase Steve-O "you're not a dick or anything." What most people don't get is you can't try and talk superior or spicy or aggressive with an Englishman, all we do all day is tear each other to bits with insults and arguments for ***** and giggles. People seem to think they can be hypocritical and rude as **** and I'm not going to bite back and bite back with venom because it's my culture - you guys are far more soft with your language that we are in the north of England as any other Brits or well travelled Europeans will tell you. If people come at me chill and want to talk then it's all good, but many of them can't it's always prefaced with some knuckledragger insult, so at that point I'm going to sit here giggling, getting high and poking and poking to get them as mad as possible.
I think to form a legitimate, defensible opinion using the eye test you need to watch A LOT. The Castle debate is a great example. Do you think the people who praise him are actually watching every game he plays? Hell, even that's not really enough, you'd need to watch specifically that player only when you're watching. I am 100% though a Luhnow guy though, so i'll always believe more in the math and data vs people's subjective eye tests.
Why do people think castle is a better player now?! Per 100 pos stats they are quite comparable. For as much d***riding you find in the media these days you’d imagine Castle being the more impactful but he has a net rating of ZERO. (Reed is a solid plus 6 for however much s*** this thread is giving him) Reed is higher in both BPM, DPM and LEBRON The two teams are both 5-2 (and we know which one is fake) I maintain the unpopular view that Reed Sheppard ends up being a better player long term.
