See above, Reed has more games less than .200 shooting from the field in his first season than Jalen has in his entire career. Stat guy.
Getting more usage on a lottery team doesnt make a player better. He just has more usage. I promise you that if we had drafted Castle, he would not see the floor and Reed would be averaging more than 15+ on the Spurs and this board would be going absolute apeshit. If Castle was here, teams would just ignore him on the perimeter. He would not handle the ball. Ever. You think Ime is going to play a 2nd year turnover machine? So if he cant playmake and he cant shoot, what does he do here? What would his role here be? Is Castle better than Reed right now? I dont know. I dont think so. He just gets more chances to learn through his mistakes. I do know Reed is both a better playmaker and a supremely better shooter. Castle is a much better defender. That's about all we know right now. They both need more time. Reed has it a little rougher playing for Ime. But he also might develop better habits vs Castle who has Harper/Fox breathing down his neck.
Of course, he has games where he goes 0-1 and 0-2 and stuff, jalen never had games where he played 4 minutes and took 1 shot. I'm talking about his 3 pt shooting though, his sample size right now is nonexistent. The most shots he took in any of those games is 8, jalen in his 2nd year for example (only one i looked at) literally did not have a single game taking 8 or fewer shots.
Lol you probably dont have access to watch the games, but you watch the box scores. If you watched the games thus far Reed was a momentum killer in key parts of those games. You can play the plus/minus stat to justify your point, but watching the game live you'll notice the momentum flipped in those games when Reed played. If you watch Amen, you'll know he's important to our success...heck, if he wouldn't had caught cramps against OKC we would've won!
Lol they're not trading Castle...Vassel and Keldon Johnson/Harrison Barnes will be traded. They're not trading away a 19ppg scorer. Either you trolling or you slow in the head
He is averaging 5 three pointers a game in just 20 minutes You're right that the sample size is small because it's early in the season, but I think we can say at least that he's doing what we hoped for right now in terms of 3P% and shot volume. If he keeps up this level of production I'll be pretty happy with him as a roleplayer on this team.
The turnovers will balance out. To say his talent is suitable for G-league is not worth debating with you as well...you must be trolling or slow
No .... it's factual. I wasn't "from the field" but from 3 that I was referring to .... I just didn't explain that in the above post. I should have been more clear.
What are you talking about??? Reed had opportunities last season as our backup point guard and he looked like a deer in headlights with the ball in his hand! Reed has definitely improved, but Castle at this juncture a better NBA player
Don’t watch the Spurs and don’t know Castles game. But this notion of he can’t shoot so he must be bad is so silly. The name Amen Thompson rings a bell? Not saying Castle is as good as Amen or ever will be. Amen is one of a kind. But Castle is averaging almost 20pts a game. He must be doing something right, right? Shooting is important. But it’s not the only thing that matters.
Just simply watching the games. Rarely does Holiday have turnovers handling the ball, its his decision making when trying to make plays. Like Reed, he's a combo guard. He just does it better
He averages virtually the same amount of turnovers in a third of the minutes. Also Reed clearly has better passing talent than Holiday. Not sure how you can watch the games and think anything else
I guess I put more stock in the overall package than just the one trait. 35% for a career is still hardly world beating from 3. Pretty sure we slated Jalen for that too. Or is this another case of the miniscule sample sizes only count when they support your case? He's a 35% shooter in the league so far in his career, 37% in high school, and one freak year at college and apparently he's generational? Come on now, compare him to the real generational shooters like Curry, Redick, Korver et al. He looks like an anomaly not part of the pattern.
Do you truly, honestly, in your heart of hearts look at Reed and go "man, he can't shoot"? Like you REALLY think he's actually a BAD 3 point shooter?
I decided not to pay 1k per year just to watch games. I do watch the national games. All great players have 5 to 7 minutes of bad play. If great players can, why can't young developing players too? The reality is you have an irrational hatred of the guy. Saying the #3 pick should get minutes off the bench is a rational belief.
