Saying there's only so much someone can do implies he did something. He didn't do anything for our winning rate and he was playing more than 20 minutes in the second half. In the playoffs, we lost to a lesser team. Same exact thing. Played great but the poor for made the net benefit 0. Initially I was unhappy with Capela but now I prefer the scenario of keeping Capela as backup C and signing a minimum 3rd string. Cheapest and won't skip a beat. We need that money elsewhere.
I love Sengun, and maybe I'll eat my words by the end of the season, but unless he took a major leap from last season, that pick is just wrong. 2018 Paul was still damn near MVP caliber, and on both ends of the floor.
Amen hasn’t been the pg we hoped. A lot of bad careless passing and doesn’t command the offense. Sengun has improved his FT shooting and extended his range. Still a work in progress but you can see the work. Jabari has tightened up his dribbling and mechanics/footwork when driving. Looks stronger. More confident. Reed’s defense is horrendous but we knew this. His decision making on offense is not good. Interesting to see what role he plays on this team the rest of this season.
Eyes: KD: old fella who can turn it up Sengun: cok COK guzel Amen: dirty good Reed: not an nba guy. Sorry Tari: TBD --- but jeez, so many ups and downs Bari: good and aggressive. He might fail at times but he's leaving it all out on the floor. He's all in. Edit: Okogie: gluey. Simple. Like bluey
Jabari just seems to make things smoother. Sengun too often over complicates thing on offense by not just going up strong when he beats his man initially.
Reed looks like his mom probably still beats him at one on one. Maybe we should give her a 10 day can't be a worse pg than he is.
Don’t agree on Amen. I think it was always the intention for him to share the initiator role with Sengun and that is what is happening. He is adjusting to his new role and is trying to be too unselfish with the ball. His expected assists numbers are through the roof and his actual assists are good except for 1 game when he got in foul trouble early and played poorly throughout. He is missing a lot more shots in the lane than he should, but I still think that has to do with thinking too much instead of just letting his natural abilities take over. If Ime doesn’t blow it, by mid-year people will be very satisfied with his progress. I also think virtually everyone on the team is trying to figure out how to play with KD and how to get the ball to him where and when he wants it.
The group looks great and needs some time to gel. I trust Amen. They need to keep finding the team system w Amen, Durantula, and Sengun. Stephen Adams is a boss. I think they can go far. I wouldn't mind trading some good picks for Derrick White if we don't have to give up any key core guys. I am ready for my eyes to test adding DFS to the lineup. My eyes don't miss Jalen Green or Dillon Brooks. I enjoyed Dillon Brooks on the Rockets and thought he played well, but I am ready to hate him again.
Right. Then Durant will draw a double with the ball in his hands, but isnt sensing the double quick enough to get the ball out. Which would think after 20 years would be smooth second nature. But his game is needing a little time to for him to "cook". He still creates more gravity in everything though, everything is fluid except those times.
I agree. We don’t need to make any panic moves now. We probably need a decent combo guard that can shoot good from 3 and play D to either push Okogie as the first guard off the bench or be the first guard off the bench. Derrick White is not playing very well right now, but he will probably get it straightened out. Trouble is he is making 30M so unless FVV would agree to a trade, you would have to weaken the rest of the roster to get him and give up at least a pick, probably 2. Reed and Tari would only get you half way there for instance.
I am 100% pleased at the discipline the posters have shown. I would have given it about a 32.33% chance of success. Thank you clutchfans.
Jabari is playing stronger. Its cliche, but it's maturity & development into "man body" & mentality that actually seems to be the case. Even if his game is the same thing, it's with more secure feeling that he's gonna take shots with confidence, do things with more force Okogie is one of the league's best bargain signings so far. While the team needs a good point guard, it shows that a player that fits the system & identity can be impactful. Hopefully this doesnt come true - that I do not expect his shooting to hold up at all. It might regress down to the Jaesean Tate level it's always been. Even if it doesn't, he'll be worth more than his pay. Just a solid pickup Durant's fouls drawing is an overlooked part of his game. People hate the SGA's & Hardens playing "ugly & floppy" to get whistles. But it just works, and Durant has his niche in that. Reed, I actually am encouraged by things I see. His 3 point shooting is starting to meet expectations. Reed does have some dribble drive separation ability, even if his handle isn't great, he can get past defenders just enough. That said, the issue is what does Reed do AFTER getting separation.. That needs improvement. Then Reed is getting picked on in D. I don't think he's a poor defender, but the opponent does sense advantage with him in for a reason. While he has improved from last year, so far he's ok in development as a reserve, but not ready to be a starter for the time being (if he even needs to be a starter at all)
I’m just saying he isn’t a point guard. He has trouble dribbling with pressure on him. He throws wild lateral passes on the perimeter high and out of bounds. One play in the Boston game Rockets had momentum. He drove and kicked it out to a wide open durant but sailed the ball high out bounds TO. Things like this can’t happen and they seem to happen too often.
