The GOP could end this right now if they eliminated the Senate filibuster. President Trump is urging them to do this and they would never "need" a single Democratic vote for anything going forward.

Do you agree with ending the filibuster?

Too Long Don't Want To Read: A permanent legal resident wrongly imprisoned for 40 years and released just last year was scooped up by Trump's sadistic ICE.

Two courts urge ICE to halt deportation of man wrongfully imprisoned for more than 40 years
Legal resident ‘Subu’ Vedam being held in short-term center after getting murder conviction overturned earlier this year

Two different courts have called on immigration officials to halt deportation of a Pennsylvania man who spent more than 40 years in prison for a murder conviction that was recently overturned.

Subramanyam Vedam, 64, was brought to the United States by his parents when he was nine months old. Vedam is a legal permanent resident, and according to his lawyer, had his citizenship application accepted prior to his arrest in 1982. He is known by his relatives as “Subu”, per the Associated Press.

He is currently being held in a short-term center in Alexandria, Louisiana, which is equipped with an airstrip for deportations.

An immigration judge stayed his deportation on Thursday until the Bureau of Immigration Appeals decides whether to review his case. That could take several months. Vedam’s lawyers also got a stay the same day in US district court in Pennsylvania but said that case may be on hold given the immigration court ruling.

Vedam was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in 1983 and received an additional sentence of two-and-a-half to five years for a drug offense a year later, as part of a plea deal that was to be served simultaneously with his life sentence.

He has maintained his innocence in the murder case throughout his time in prison and his conviction was overturned this year. He was released from state prison on 3 October only to be taken straight into immigration custody.

Lol sure do that. Not short sighted by a party that more often than not has to lean on it to block laws they don’t like.

I disagree with Trump and ending the Senate ending the filibuster. There's a reason the govt is setup like it is and changing it would be shortsighted. IMHO

LMAO, look at Russia/China as a guide.

This is what Mandami believes in. Even if I'm wrong, (Which I'm not) He's certainly not a person who believes in the capitalist system this country was built upon.

I am going to need you to flesh out a little more for me.

Russia and China were communist countries, until ... they ... weren't.

They still are communist countries and the fact that you are unwilling to admit this means we can't have a conversation.

I think its because the only thing they know about socialism that the people they outsource their critical thought to have told them that they should be afraid of it.

They couldnt pick socialism out of a police lineup if their lives depended on it.

Lauren Boebert stirs controversy with racist Halloween costume making light of ICE crackdown
Congresswoman dons Mexican-themed dress, holds sign with ‘word of the day’

A photo of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert at a Halloween party has drawn criticism over the Colorado congresswoman’s Mexican-themed costume, which included a sombrero, a dress and a sign that made light of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

The photo was circulated on social media over the weekend. The Republican is dressed in what appears to be a traditional Mexican outfit, of sorts, and is holding a sign with a message that uses a racist play on words invoking a stereotyped Mexican accent.

The sign reads: “Mexican Word of the Day: Juicy. Tell me if juicy ICE coming,” an apparent pun on “Tell me if you see ICE coming.” ICE is an acronym for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Standing near her in the photo is a man dressed as an ICE agent.

The costume drew condemnation from Latino advocacy groups in Colorado.

“She should be ashamed of herself,” said Stacy Suniga, the president of the Latino Coalition of Weld County. “Though I believe she is incapable of any emotion that generates human decency. Her bigotry and ignorance are clearly evident in her chosen apparel this day.”

Boebert represents a part of Weld County in the 4th Congressional District. According to the Colorado Redistricting Commission, the ruby red Eastern Plains-centered district was at least 14% or so Latino as of the 2020 census — having the lowest Latino representation among the state’s eight congressional districts. The 4th District also includes populous Douglas County.
