I dunno.. he looked like MVP candidate a few years back. Now whoever takes him would be a reclamation project, pretty much...

Reminds me a bit of TybLawsons spiral-dpwn. Except Ja was even better when he was good

Dudes a freaking head case and also injury prone.

Yeah he was amazing before he got all gangster but now he is just toxic. You guys forget we have KD and Amen? Amen would throw him like he did Herro and break his arm for the season or w/e. KD wont stand for this nonsense and start trashing him on twitter.

Rox are on a 4 game ws and people still wanna disrupt all that smh.

    Yeah, im smooth on Ja.

Rather see if the kings implode and try to get Schroeder for a much cheaper price on a multi year deal.

If you could do it for FVV, parts, and maybe a pick I’d do it. FVV isn’t playing anyway so as long as you don’t give up any of the young core, do it. If Ja doesn’t work out then use him as filler for a different stat trade. He has one year left after this one right? Should be able to flip him on an expiring contract.

If I'm the Grizzlies, I'm hitting the phones hard to try and find a good trade for Ja. Ideally a solid young prospect and picks. Since Coward is looking great, if they can get decent value for Ja, they should be able to quickly retool around JJJ/Edey/Coward/etc. with what they get for Ja and got for Bane. JJJ is only 26.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to see them acquire a rotation worthy guard, I want nothing to do with Morant.

They do turn it over a bit too often - and less pressure on Durant, Amen & Sengun - a guy who can stretch the floor while getting them the ball in their spots where they don't have to work so hard at it themselves would be a big help to the offense.
Maybe that guy is Reed .... at some point. When he plays well, everything falls into place.

Schroeder is probably the top end of the pay scale they can acquire at $14.1m

I think Stone plays this out until December and re-evaluates. Maybe they don't need to make a move if Reed grows into the role. (Big IF).

I mean this as respectfully as possible because I appreciate the thoughtful reply... but I just don't buy it. Every GM worth his salt is going to do his best to make room for stars and go after every talented FA they think they have a chance at. Most of the guys you mention who didn't play for the Rockets never seemed to get very close to playing for us, either. Those were but the weakest of rumors, if anything, and there's some level of rumor for every star on the market with almost every team.

Saying "we would have gone for him because Morey liked talented players" is not of much substance IMO. I was asking for examples of times Morey rolled the dice on a star player whose market value was low because of boneheaded decisions in his past (i.e. maybe Morant or KPJ). Westbrick's market value was low because it was clear he was just criminally overrated by the time we got him. Plus by many accounts, it was Fertits that wanted Russell, not Morey.

Rolling the dice on an injury prone headcase point guard who can't shoot on a max contract is how you set the team back.

We do not need another superstar/star level player. Any 3&D playmaking PG/SG would take us over the edge.

Why would we want another KPJ who can’t even shoot and is on a much worse contract? The guy isn’t even that young, and his best days ended back in 2022. Our team already has great chemistry, so if we want to ruin that, sure let’s trade for this troublemaker.

You say that like such a thing is easy to find.

... Although incidentally, we have one of those on our IR.

Not saying it is easy to find, just saying Morant doesn't even fit our needs.

yeah I’m jealous of them having Coward. Really looks good to me. I’d be shocked if they could even get one 1st rounder for Ja at this point and it’s not entirely because of the off court stuff. I just think the character and health issues, combined with the big contract render him very hard to trade for anything other than another player on a bad contract. Maybe a team woukd throw in 2nd rounders but just can’t see meaningful picks involved like the Bane trade.
