Filipino food is delicious, but also interesting to me (I'm gonna borrow a very basic paragraph here):

In her book Sarap: Essays on Philippine Food, food writer and cultural historian Doreen Fernandez attributes the difficulty Filipinos have with describing their cuisine to the many cultural influences Filipinos have adopted as their own. After all, there are dishes with Spanish names like embutido and lechon and dishes with Chinese names like lumpia and pancit, all comfortably coexisting alongside dishes with indigeneous names like kinilaw and sinigang. “The reason for this confusion,” Fernandez says, “is that Philippine cuisine, dynamic as any live and growing phase of culture, has changed through history, absorbing influences, indigenizing, adjusting to new technology and tastes, and thus evolving.” Add to that a varied population that’s spread across an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands and it’s no surprise that Filipinos have a hard time distilling a diverse, complex, and continually evolving cuisine into a few choice words.

if reed can continue to hit over 40% from three, he will be able to keep his minutes in spite of his poor defense.
Love me some oxtail. Just kidding where in the hell can you even buy one?

Add some plantains and you have Dusty's 2022 WS post game meal. What a time to be alive.

Has always been an elite shooter. Might need time to adjust defensively. And he'll always be good at defensive playmaking, getting those sneaky blocks from behind and reading the passing lanes.

I have been pretty negative on Sheppard and am still not yet optimistic he is a rotation player against good teams.

BUT Ime’s plan to find out is working. In the last few games, Reed has looked more solid coming off the bench against second units of bad teams. His shot is falling and he is making fewer stupid decisions on offense. In short, the game seems to be slowing down a little for him. He seems more in rhythm with his teammates.

Sheppard still looks extremely weak at the point of attack on defense. He seems allergic to physicality and bumping his man even slightly to cut him off or deter penetration. Someone needs to get Sheppard on the floor and have him run into O line pads. Until this changes, he will continue to use to be a defensive liability.

Tonight’s game against Dallas presents another opportunity against the second unit of a weak team. Let’s hope we see continued comfort and contribution on offense, and some level of improvement at the point of attack.

Analyze Sheppard’s weaknesses all you want - at the end of the day, he is averaging .44 from 3 on 5.4 3pa a game. That is an incredible number for someone so young shooting so many 3s. If he’s able to stay around a .39 - .4 3 point shooter on good volume, he’ll likely make hundreds of millions of dollars in the NBA.

Here were the 3 point percentage leaders last year among guys who shot 5 or more 3s a game. How many guys in their early 20s do you see?

The food discussion is infinitely more intelligent than when it was just Jalen fans crying about Sheppard.

Just finished watching the Celtics game. Obviously folks are talking about Sheppard hitting his 3's. But the real story is the improvement in his defense. After the Raptors game I b****ed about him relying on his hands, going for steals, getting off balance, and getting blown by. In the Celtics game, he played like he had a whole different mindset. Much more aggressive with his feet, quicker movement, crowding, shifting with the attacker, taking away lanes.

Seriously, go back and watch him in those two games. I thought it would take him a whole season to change his mentality. He did it in 3 days. Not pretending that he's got it down — that'll take time, and it's unclear how much better he can get. But just changing his focus from hands and stealing to feet and denying. Taking away space, cutting off angles, getting his chest in there, fighting over picks. So much better.

Takeaways: 1) he's listening to the coaches (conspiracy theory: Fred is working on him) and 2) he's a quick learner. Very good signs.

Now if only we could feed him whatever Alpi ate to grow another couple of inches ...

He did have a horrible gamble against Jalen Brown, but that stood out as it wasn't happening as much as in other games.
