He’s shown flashes of being a top 10 guy for sure.
Big difference between top 5 and bottom 5 though. I don’t want to pay a Dak level player 50+ mil a year

It is not time to move on but isn’t time to pay him either.

He might have been top 10 but certainly hasn’t been since. (I know, terrible GM, bad coordinators, no running game, poor O-Line, no weapons outside of Nico. No one could succeed here!)

    “You deserve Davis Mills.”

    :D

Check @zeeshan2 ’s charts & graphs (didn’t realize JC Denton took over your account :p).

Tom Brady in his prime couldn't succeed with our garbage OL and garbage OC.

Just because you can start threads doesn’t mean you should. What a knee-jerk reaction

How would you run a team if you're not willing to pay someone like Dak? Assuming your line would be that you'd pay only mahomes, burrow, allen, lamar. Would Burrow make the cut? he's hurt so much. You'd have dumped guys like herbert, purdy?

Burrow is miles ahead of anything Stroud has shown.
Purdy and Herbert have been more consistent than Stroud, by quite a bit.
Either way, if they were all doing what CJ is doing, I wouldn’t want to pay them.
It’s still projection that CJ gets to any of their levels at this point, but we have to see.
If, and it’s probably not a small if, he gets to top 10 QB level you have to pay him. That’s just the nature of the sport.
If he’s shown that bottom half of top 10 is his absolute ceiling, I would give it a year and see what we could get for him.
It might be kicking the can down the road, but at that point a whole new GM/HC/OC/QB would be needed.
Hopefully he can be a top 10 guy and we can keep the defense, that would be enough to hopefully win.

Oh you said a guy like Dak, i was talking more about him not CJ. Dak is certainly way better than purdy and at least as good as herbert. I generally agree with that philosophy though, i would NEVER pay the tua/lawrence/hurts types but if you put a good enough team around them you can win, and without a qb you cannot win. Purdy has had a light years better infrastructure around him, stroud would make the niners way better than purdy does. As soon as purdy's infrastructure went from historically great to so so, they stopped winning.

I was just saying in general.
I hate that “good” QBs are getting paid ungodly amounts of the cap

It's very bizarre that they all get paid the same. There's no difference between the contracts of the top 3 and guys like hurts who are in the 15 range. I really don't get it, it's like there's an nba style max. Hurts makes 51/year, purdy signed for 53/year and josh allen, who's maybe the best qb in the league signed for 55. It's like if the nba didn't have a max and jokic signed for 50 a year and towns signed for 48.

Burrow has also missed (including to the end of this season, as expected) 22 of 51 games since 2023

Also true. He’s about to go the Luck route.
    But, the talent is there.
Just seems like you can’t win in most scenarios unless you’re one of the lucky few franchises

That's exactly what it is, "Who`s Next Up" and it's so frustrating, IMO a guy like Purdy is an OK QB who personally I would not want but it is what it is, when it's your turn to become the next "highest Paid"................buy why? IMO CJ is better than Purdy if you look at pure talent, Jalen Hurts is OK Tua is getting paid $53 million, Trevor and Jordan getting $55 million per year and I still would rather have CJ, I just dont think any of them are worth that MUCH but the league thinks differently and then you fight like hell to put quality around them and b**** when your team sucks because you have so much $$ wrapped up in one player. Dak makes $60 million and he is awesome in the regular season but sucks in the playoffs........make it make sense

I just hate this trend of having to pay so much money to mediocre QBs that are just average (or slightly above) and will more than likely get your team nowhere. That includes Dak, Purdy, Tua, Darnold, Lawrence, Jordan, etc. So far, CJ is falling into that mold and it'll suck, but thats what has happened in the NFL.

Well, I guess it’s time to see how well Mertz performs behind a bad offensive line. If CJ or Mills can’t get the job done, maybe Mertz is the man.
