I'd say he is the 3rd best PG in entire league. More like that 90s pg that has to post himself up a la Jackson, Penny,Kidd, Glove lol

You can tell that dribbling to his post spots rather than being fed takes a lot of energy. His assist rate is phenomenal from it, but getting all the way to the bucket, 30% FG on those.

55% on post ups where he is fed traditionally

And that is why the title of this thread is 100% correct and all other "franchise player" threads mocking this one are dead wrong.

I mean, not really. Amen is right behind him at +19.5 and is only 22. Both Sengun and Amen are clearly our “franchise player,” and we’re very lucky to have them. IMG_1891.jpeg

that is the ‘on’ part of the stat you quoted. In the off net ratings Sengun has a team best -5.6, the only player with a negative rating. Amen is a distant second with +5.3. That is a huge margin, even more so considering they play a lot of minutes together.

while I don’t see on off ratings and team ratings to measure impact in most cases, my eye test agrees that Sengun is more crucial to this team then Amen at this point as Amen’s offense is not creating for others most of the time but Sengun is the engine behind the offense.

Alpi is 1a and Amen is 1b

They complement each other and fit like a glove. Hard to think of a better Robin to Alpi's Batman

If Amen was the one traded for KD instead of Jalen then Alpi and the Rockets will be as successful in beating opponents

Alpi fans should be insecure of Amen because Amen won't steal possessions and shots away from Alpi

    Maybe you meant shouldn’t.
I can’t think of a person who likes Alpi’s game but not Amen’s anyway. If there is any insecurity here it wasn’t on my side.

Where are you getting your Off stats? Sorry, I just don’t buy this. If there is some sort of major difference in Off stats, it’s likely due to the small sample size given they don’t play much separately. Amen and Segun are averaging 27.3 minutes per game together. Their combined 2 man NETRTG is by and away the best on the team a 15.8. Sorry, I just don’t believe that there’s some major dropoff between Sengun and Amen. They are clearly 1a and 1b.

The crazy part is Alp is only 5.5 months older than Amen.
    That’s an elite young duo

Absolutely. Not to mention neither is selfish nor a prima donna, and both fit like a glove. Sengun is developing into one of the most versatile offensive players in the league who is no slouch defensively, and Amen is already arguably the most versatile defender in the league and his offensive bag is improving by the day. The fact that both are arguably top 20 players despite being about 3 - 4 years away from their early primes is incredible.

    you are right shouldn't

KD joiined the rockets because of 1. ALPI AND 2. AMEN I don't think he has joined if one was missing.

The numbers are from nba.com. As I said, I don't see nba.com's player ratings as measures of personal contribution or impact ( but i recall you do if I am not mistaken). And the small sample size plays a role for sure. But it makes total sense to me that we would struggle more with Alpi on he bench compared to Amen on the bench in terms of their roles in our offense.

They are 1a and 1b, and Amen will probably make the jump in his offensive game this year. Good times ahead!

I think they are close in value going forward this season (i.e., 1a and 1b), but I think Sengun has been much better than Amen these 1st 5 games. Players have hot and cold streaks. Playing with Sengun or Reed is likely the biggest cause of most of the players' +/- this early in the season as Sengun has been straight fire with Reed being the opposite (i.e., playing with those 2 is likely a bigger factor than the player's own skill to this point).

Everyone compares Sengun to Joker, but I feel like he's looking more and more like Dirk every game.

Suns were planning to flip Green but they had zero takers so either you’re genius that nobody in the league front office are missing or you’re just JG fan
