Where are we ( the United states ) at concerning our democracy / institutions ?

Are we on the verge of crumbling, losing our position as a world power with the strongest economy ? Have we always been this corrupt ( if you believe we are now corrupt ) . Or are things merely hum-ho , move along nothing to see here ? Or a third possibility , our country has never been stronger ?

What should the average ( or median if you are a stats head ) citizen be doing right now to try to secure their future and perhaps as a byproduct the future of their neighbors / community .

The backdrop of this question is that I do believe there is an inherent incentive for the news to rile people up / produce sensationalist coverage . This goes for all sides as "everything is running smoothly" is not a story that sells.

However, personally I am in the worried category. There may be little a normal person can do at this point. I'm disgusted by the classlessness displayed by the current party in power , and think there is no way back. I may sound like an old person, i don't think I'm that old. Maybe its just having more responsibilities that's causing life to be more difficult, but at this point its hard to disconnect that from our current political situation . I've considered getting more active politically than I ever have before , and feel more is at stake than has been in my lifetime.

    A poll follows

I like that you took only 2 steps out of 10 to get from democracy to revolution

How are people not THRIVING in this economy?

Inflation is back to historic norms. GDP growth remains robust. Interest rates are declining. The stock market is an at all time high. AI and crypto are spurring new career opportunities. Manufacturing investment in the USA is setting records. Foreign markets for American-made goods are expanding. Illegals are heading home, creating more opportunities for Americans and serving to lower future rent levels (supply-demand for housing will improve). Wars are ending, creating more stability in the world.

Everyone walks off their jobs at the ports, trains? Hell if I know. Spanish/French-style "farmers blockade the roads" stuff won't work here.

Where's the evidence? Where's the data? What you shared is nothing more than a prediction from a discredited source. Meanwhile what I shared is 100% supported by hard data and facts. Big difference, amigo.

LOL -- part of the work force for a single month -- that's your data? You don't understand data. No cred.

On the other hand, my data is easy to track. CPI, Stock market, GDP reports, Manufacturing investment -- this is all known and clear trends. Not half the workforce for a single month -- like you posted. You're just not credible.

    All my points stand.

It's awesome to watch middle management decry Goldman Sach's global research division as fake news from a "discredited source"

No dumbass it wasnt just one month. The previous month also had negative jobs. Nobody buys your bullshit propoganda which is why Trump is the lowest rated POTUS in american history at this point. You can spew lies and propoganda online but people don't buy it

He literally said, "AI is creating massive job opportunities" lol we just learned that we lost over 170k jobs due to Ai in a single month. The thing that really pisses me off with these cultists is how utterly shamelessly they lie to your face. They dont think lying is a sin even though they cosplay as Christians

Apart from Conquistador's analysis of the economy being bullshit, it also completely misses the point. This thread is about growing authoritarianism. From the OP:
