Durant traded to Houston for Green, Brooks, #10 pick, and multiple 2nd rounders

The amount of self-delusion the last 4 years was over the top, even last year people were claiming Jalen was better than Sengun, and would shout out anyone who thought otherwise. Some people still believe he will be the next Michael Jordan lol. Insane!

 

Before clicking on the link I was like "Oh man, did this emo get a freaking tramp stamp ?"

After watching the video I was shocked that, yes he did.. It just wasn't the kinda tramp stamp I was thinking of nor in the location of the back I thought this weirdo would get it

 

This was a good trade. You can regret that we dont have the BKN 2026 bur I prefer the assets spread out. I know they were separate deals but they set us up nice for the future.

 

I don't think we'll be able to fully grade the trade for a couple more years.

There's still some question of whether Jalen takes a small step forward, or treads water/falls off. If the former, he will at least be a solid starter, albeit not a star player. If the latter, his future may be as a 6th man. I put it roughly 50/50 between those outcomes right now. Odds on him being more than a borderline all-star at any point in his career are, at this point, extremely low.

Maluach looks bad so far, but we know he started playing ball late and was always going to be raw. Jury is still fully out on him, but I will say I think his upside is probably capped out around "good starter" level.

Lastly, KD does have elevated injury risk due to his age.

There are still very plausible scenarios where the Rockets "lose" this trade, but so far so good.

The Rockets traded nothing of value.

 

Getting out of Jalen’s contract alone is a win.

 

If the Rockets would have dumped Green for nothing I would have considered it a net positive for the franchise.

Maybe the trade doesn't work out because of Durant, but it would be a meh deal. I find any scenario in which we truly regret this as being very, very slim and even thats only because I'm allowing for the possibility of Maluach becoming a star.

I think there's a good chance that's going to be true. As I said, though, it's still pretty plausible that he improves to the point where he would have been worth the $35M AAV. That's "very good starter" money these days, not "superstar" money.

The scenario where it feels like we "lost" this trade basically goes, and knock on wood because I really hope this first one doesn't happen: KD misses a lot of time with injuries, Jalen improves somewhat and becomes consistent enough to be worth his contract, and Maluach ends up being a starting-caliber big. Do I think this scenario is likely? No, but I also think it's too early to say for certain.

 

Rightfully so, he totally lost it regarding Jalen, would get super aggressive about any criticism. Way worse than ATW, and at least ATWwas correct regarding Sengun

 

the most valuable piece from that trade for the suns will be the center they picked 10th.

 

Even if Durant misses games, if we can just have him healthy for the playoffs in two out of the next three years then I would be happy.
