He works so well with the other 4. It’s gonna be hard to take him out of the lineup once DFS is healthy
The NBA salary rules are bonkers. How do we get this guy for the Min? 1st round pick, started very promising, I think he even got some ROY votes. I liked him, always played with effort, quite athletic. Then he fizzled out, because he couldn’t make the threes… but all these NBA reps he went through, he learned the game, he learned the reads, he knows what to do and what not to do. Basically, a guy in his prime, knows the game as a vet, and is now making the 3pt! And we have him at the min salary because teams got squeezed money-wise with the rules. Meanwhile, some completely clueless high picks make 8-10M per on the rookie scale rule???
Didn’t think we’d get a replacement for Brooks’s hustle and nonstop defensive effort. Not expecting him to continue his 90% 3PT shooting, but what a pleasant surprise so far.
84th in EPM ahead of Scottie Barnes Paolo Banchero Dyson Daniels while on a minimum contract is not on my bingo card
When Finney -Smith comes back, whenever that is, you can take about 4 minutes each from Alpi, KD, Amen, Jabari, Adams. Okogie and Finney can play around 21 minutes each. I don't want him losing too much time. He earned that bump like a mother f'er. Biggest surprise so far.
Okogie likely remains in the starting lineup once DFS is back. Especially if they keep winning like this. Bring DFS along slowly off that ankle surgery and use him with Tari as another "Terror Twins" tandem off the bench.
I dont think thenRockets ever intended DFS to be a starter. He was insurance for Tari since we lost Dillon.

I don't think Okogie's performance is sustainable, so I expect him to eventually fall back to earth and lose the starting role....but keep this going as long as his hot streak lasts.
If our offense continues to demolish opponents, then maybe we don't need Fred to start when he comes back.
I think DFS will take all of Clint's rotation mins and make him a scrub so those other guys will be affected less. He might also allow KD to miss games for "load management". DFS will likely take some of Okogie's mins if/when his 3-point shooting eventually tails off. However, if DFS returns to previous form AND Okogie maintains his standard of play so far, Rockets will have a very hard time finding enough mins for everyone.
From what I've seen from this guy. He just plays winning basketball. On defense he's a menace. He gets over screens and stays glued to guys. He is the glue to this team. Aaron Holiday is getting no burn because of Josh. Im fine with that.
Clint had 10 rebounds yesterday. I like clint because I know he looks out of shape, but he gives pick and roll lob threat.
The shooting over 60% from 3 isn't sustainable. I think we all realize that .... but the rest of his game is completely sustainable. He's shot ~40% over the last 75ish games .... If he can shoot ~37% .... he should continue starting. I like the guard rotation of Amen / Okogie with Reed as the 3rd guard.
37% would be great, but he's a career 30% 3 point shooter, if that version of him returns, he needs to be nailed to the bench.
I love Clint, but he doesn't move like he used to. The funny thing about it is when he was a Rocket, we were praying he would put on some weight because he was "too skinny". lol
