With top picks, a lot of the time you are paying for their future. Reed could easily become a much better player in the next 2 years.

I have to apologize, i thought you were being serious all this time.

    I didn't realize you're just pretending.

Fyi, calling Holiday a shooting guard gave you away.

Sorry got you and another posted mixed up. I’m glad he’s taking shots within the flow of the game and if he keeps that up he will be one of the best shooters in the league this year.

He is an undersized shooting guard lol. All he does is shoot and score dude cant create for others of his life depended on it. If you dont know that I think you are just Reed coded and dont know the rest of the team.

Bro it aint my fault you are too Reed coded to realize Holiday is an undersized shooting guard. Ask any knowledgeable poster here.

He hasn't played the position before. He has 2 other point guard brothers.

I honestly feel bad for you knowing you might seriously believe it.

    That's kind of embarrassing....

Why are you so triggered to discover Holiday is am undersized SG? Just look at his career stats. Dude averages 2 asts his entire career.

I wonder if coaches/management want him to just focus on offense, because some of the bad defensive moves cant be him playing his regular defense..

What Im thinking or hoping is they let him go all out on offense this year, get confortable and next year he can start focusing on defense

I think Udoka has given him the go ahead for a few risks a game. At his size he's gonna give away some points, that's unavoidable. However he can offset it to a degree with some steals.

One thing this team does not lack is recovery length to make up for a gamble. Use a strength to cover up a weakness.

Of course he doesn't have carte blnche to do whatever, that gamble on Brown in the first half was one of the more egregious f**k ups he's made in that regard.

Reed/Amen will be a great combo in 1-2 years.

Reed is obviously not playing perfectly, and has lapses than most young players do. That said, he is EXTREMELY young, and his shooting is exactly what we wanted it to be when we drafted him early. He also has great hands on defense, as advertised (though overall he does need a lot more work on that end), and he can get into the paint way better than he could in his rookie season, though his finishing and decision making could definitely be better when there.

He was never going to be a superstar right away, but he's developing well--and being able to watch someone like KD on a daily basis and being mentored by FVV has got to be helpful. We are providing Reed with the perfect environment to become a great player one day, and I really have high hopes that he'll get there.

Right, and just fyi THIS year he is getting consistent minutes so far. This is what consistent minutes look like. Not what happened last season. Go back and compare the game logs for anyone who still doesnt get it.

And I get it that he is the latest highest pick, but I think people hyper focus on him. All these guys make mistakes and have turnovers and have tendencies they need to work on. Reed is the youngest and least experienced of the bunch so of course he too will make his fair share of mistakes.

And I know def rating isnt the best stat, but it is more meaningful when comparing players on the same team. That said. There are two players in the regular rotation that have a better drtg than Reed, Adams and Sengun and its only one point higher.

I watch the games and obviously the eye test and logic tells us that Amen, Tari, Okogie, ect are better defenders than Reed....generally they have tougher assignments also...

But teams are scoring 114 ppg against us and youd think Reed is giving up all 114 by some of the analysis. Yeah it looks bad (and hurts the team) when hes blown by or isnt strong enough when players get into his body inside...he needs to take less gambles or learn to gamble better...

But in some instances I think hes over scrutinized because of the optics and hyper focus.

Again, Im not saying hes even a good defender at this point. Remember Jalen and Sengun were thought to be unplayable because of their defense too. People have for some odd reason labeled KD a bad defender. Ive seen Fred get "picked on" by other teams. I see Tari, Sengun, KD, and even Amen make mistakes on defense. Reed is a young player who is now getting consistent minutes and its not going to always look pretty. He has limitations that he'll always need to work around.

One of the biggest thing jalen homers used to say when someone would point out his flaws is that we were a top 2 seed and a good defensive team with him on the court...well right now we are the number one ortg team, just outside the top 10 drtg, top 3p%, basically tied at 7 for ppg allowed and are on a 3 game win streak with Reed playing significant minutes...

Hes 3rd on the team in ast per game, he has the lowest turnovers per game out of our regular ball handlers, and of the regular rotation only Sengun has a higher 3pt%.

Hes the youngest, least experienced, least physically gifted player in the rotation by a good margin in all three categories. Hes showing improvement and hes growing. Like i said i get the scrutiny, but the way some act like hes just some bum out there is wild. Let the guy grow a little bit before we decide hes not worth a ****.
