They hyping up of Castle is just hilarious to me, he has almost no upside and he's not currently a good player. He's just another 6'6 wing who can't shoot who pretends to be a PG....like a less athletic homeless man's Amen Thompson minus the defense.

Jalen has a career 54% TS, Reed has a career 36.7 TS%. My energy wasnt as high criticizing Jalen as Jalen was never as bad as Reed was. IIRC by the end Jalen got into the first team all rookie. Did Reed do that?

Reed has low mins played because he sucked so bad he would cause us to lose games so Udoka would pull him out. You are rewarding him for his bad performance by acting like his low minutes is something that was unfairly levied on when it was because he sucked. If Reed was playing at Jalen's level he would have gotten minutes, we know this because Jalen got minutes under Udoka and Reed didnt.

Reedsters only mention minutes and not games played because it looks like Reed never got a chance when the truth is he played 52 games, thats 52 chances Udoka gave him and he never capitalized.

Now Udoka is forcing him mins and his averages are still the same little to no improvement he already cost us two losses so far.

All this Reed/Jalen comparison feels misplaced. They are both completely different players and comparing their strength/weaknesses within the context of a team game that requires a particular chemistry with the remaining four is silly. Like comparing the roll of jalapenos or sweet potatoes for a particular soup or stew. Which is better? It depends. Both can be really good or really bad depending how you are using it. Both are guards. Thats about where the likeness ends. You'd be better served comparing Amen and Jalen or FVV and Reed if you ask me.

Yes he did! And it was at the wrong damn time. Playoff nerves? Scared? We'll never know but he got us there. He had a good REGULAR season.

And this shouldn't be construed as JG vs Reed. Reed is a Rocket, JG is not. Im quite sure we all want Reed to be CONSISTENTLY productive but my question still persists, if he was inconsistent in college and a defensive liability, what has CHANGED?

We have not. Jalen had played as man 30 min games as Reed before November of his rookie season.

Maybe if we were tanking like when we played Jalen we could afford reed to have 3 years of bad play to figure it out.

Instead we need to bring him along slow so if we get another jalen we are not sabotaging our season again.

We watched Jalen shoot us in or out of games for 4 years ..... We can at least give Reed until December 15th of his 2nd season.

Maybe Reed needs to be on a team where he can garner minutes, rather than the Rockets.

I wholeheartedly agree. Ive said the same thing. Give him a consistent role with consistent minutes, if he improves fine but if he is still showing the inconsistencies he showed at UK, then we will know.

However, I think Okogie has passed him up on the depth chart and when DFS comes back, he's going to need minutes too.

Can we get the Jalen/Castle fans to **** off and stop derping up Reed Sheppard threads.....you really can just go watch the Suns and Spurs, no one will stop you, there's no reason to keep pretending you are Rockets fans.

Good question...I think Reed just need to get stronger in the gym, his opponent always bullies him to the rim. They eyes light up when they get a switch on Reed like a kid in the candy store

I think that this has become very weird. Kind of like how certain people were about Green. There is quite a bit of data at this point on green and I think most of us have a pretty clear idea of the type of player that he is going to be. Certainly didn’t pay off for us as a draft pick but somehow is a trade asset ended up being at least relatively helpful. I could still see him making a couple All-Star games but overall I’m glad he’s gone.

I don’t think you’re seeing a ton of athletic flashes from Shep but when I watch him, I see a lot of good things.

I would summarize it by saying Jalen Green‘s floor is flash year, but is a losing player..

I think the floor for Shepherd is still gonna be somebody that impacts winning in a very positive way. Even if it has a backup point guard.

I would just continue to get him big minutes. I think it’s gonna end up fine.

precisely! Jalen was billed as Baby Jesus, the next Kobe/Jordan. He was given the keys from Day One, the master lockers in the locker room, it was KPJ/JG’s team. That’s why he was a massive disappointment, the expectations were huge.

This kid, we drafted as a bit of an afterthought, we needed shooting, and he could shoot… but couldn’t do other things, so Ime didn’t play him. With Fred down, we want more from him, the team needs some production at guard, and we’ re not getting it from him.

    So yeah, very different context

We needed shooting, but you never draft based on need. Always draft the best player available.

Jalen didn't get minutes because he played well. They were tanking.

Reed was also being blocked. You prefer they had benched Jalen in camp last year and then start Reed before Amen?

It's kind of a silly argument to say my guy stunk for nearly have a decade so he's better than a guy who stunk more in 10% of the same playing time.

Can you at least admit 2 things:

Jalen Green was a colossal bust
Reed has played about 2 months worth of minutes

    Both are obviously true.

Reed gets benched cus of his defense. Jalen was sucking really bad and causing us to lose to. The only difference was we were absolutely tanking so it didn’t matter. Rookie Jalen would not have sniffed playing time for us last year either,
