I disagree about Ersery at RT. I think if Cam R is uninjured and legit, it goes:
LT Cam R / Fisher (disaster waiting to happen)
    LG Ersery / Tomlinson
C Andrews (coaches love him apparently) / Patterson
    RG Ingram / Scruggs
    RT Howard / Brown

    But that's just a quibble.

Eagles knew CJGJ was a headcase, hence the trade to Htown. My Eagles' friends all said "good luck" when we traded for CJGJ because they knew (plus look at his past history). He def seemed to put the M-E in TEAM.

I'm not sure he's either of those things. Jacobs had better rate stats entering free agency and his QB wasn't Joe Burrow, and his wide receivers weren't Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Mixon has never put 1,600+ rushing yards in a single season. + Jacobs was two years younger.

Don't straw man this - I never said Joe Mixon was bad. He was good last year. But he was a bargain-bin Caserio special - like Stefon Diggs: a player available for cheap because a rival playoff team no longer felt he was good enough for their roster.

Caserio had access to three superior running backs; he chose a fourth, who was older, less productive, and being made available by a team competing with you for a playoff spot.

It's not how much you spend, it's how well you spend it. Some times it's worth it and some times it's not.

I have always believed that even the best player in the world can be overpriced and a bad value, particularly on a team. But a team can't maximize value by being cheap when a player IS worth the investment. And making all the right decisions are subject to the risks inherent to both players and the game itself.

I'm happy with Caserio, but you have to start with a projected value basis and not a woulda coulda shoulda hindsight basis.

    Rant over

With the exception of the Patriots and Eagles, the winning teams showcase a rb that has ran for more first downs than the qb.
Avg of 22 fds-44 fds[ Jonathan Taylor]

    Houston:
    Stroud 13 fds
    Chubb 12 fds
    Marks 5 fds
You can't extend drives like this . Shows inconsistencies of our "operation".

For reference, Singletary had 22 fds in the 1st 5 games replacing Dameon in 2023

So drafting a franchise LT in the 2nd round immediately after trading away his high-priced predecessor who didn’t fit the coach’s culture? Should this go in the “Caserio is the problem” thread?

Sure, as long as you include Ersery was supposed to be the RT, except Caserio wasted $12m on Robinson. Who was so bad they were forced to move Ersery to LT which cascades into a turnstile in Tomlinson to LG.

    - 2ND & 2: "We just need 2 yards". *Run off tackle*
    - 3rd & 1: "We just need 1 yard" *Run off tackle*
    - 4 & 1: "We just need 1 yard" *Run off tackle..*
    {Turnover on downs. 2-3 drives a game}

Yes the Caley operation must be better than that

This has been corrected by the use of the QB sneak.

Could've used it to get that touchdown few games ago at the end zone

Although perhaps on point for the intent of that thread, it’s not something I would ever put my name next to. But you can feel free!

    What actually happened:

Ersery was drafted to eventually replace Tunsil, who Demeco wanted gone.

A vet LT was signed as a bridge/stopgap (this is actually a responsible approach, not a bad thing).

Ersery unexpectedly won the starting job at LT, forcing a trade of Robinson as a favor to Robinson (this confirms Ersery was actually a better draft pick than initially thought).

If Ersery continues to improve, you will have the most important positions in the NFL (QB, LT, Edge, shutdown corner…throw in an elite WR for good measure) locked up long term, all 5 after 5 off seasons/drafts, the oldest being 26. And the team has already won the division the last two years.

But yeah, you should definitely include your addendum in the “Caserio is the problem” thread.

Only quibble with this: elite WR is not a throw in, it's a requirement.

Center and LG have to be addressed this off season and they can't be cheap about it.
Make a run at one of the top 3 centers. Invite Joshua Jones to play RT for you once again. Then Move Howard back inside for average play. Average play is better than the 'rotation' they have going. Finally, draft Guard with the top 3 picks.

Every year is musical chairs it seems.

Our OL and awful OC are the reasons we're out of the playoffs as of November 2nd. The GM, OC, and OL coach must all be fired. It's time to start trading some players for draft picks and begin preparing for the draft and next season.

Going into today Zach Allen was PFF's 72nd rated IDL. He dominated our OL.

There's no way our OL is #11 in PP after yesterday's abomination.

Caserio's undoing (and ours) was that he whiffed spectacularly on Kenyon Green with a freaking #15 pick in the first round of the 22' draft and then whiffed again on a 23' 2nd round pick of Juice Scruggs and then AGAIN with another second round pick on Blake Fisher!

Caserio has had too many catastrophic misses on the OL and that's why we now have to play SIX dudes on the line and we still can't run the ball.

I'm not suggesting that Caserio is a total failure, but he's not astute enough to put together a competent line, let alone lead us to a Super Bowl.

I know this is the OL thread so please accept my apology for carrying on about Nick but, what concerns me most, is there anyone out there that we can be reasonably confident will be better than Caserio?
