In an era where there are very few surprises in any draft…particularly toward the very top of the draft….this was just unreal out of nowhere. Like you, I still have no clue why. Did they just pick a name out of a hat?
Indeed, if KD and Alpi combine for 50+ ppg, Jabari might be lucky to maintain 13 ppg even playing 35 mpg. Thing is, unless his motor starts firing regularly when he's on the floor, his minutes could plummet when DFS finally joins the rotation. Maybe seeing Amen, Okogie, Tari and DFS bringing it hard every night will inspire him. We can only hope so. That all said, it's still very early. Even though I think Jabari is easily the most known and predictable quantity in the rotation (besides Steven Adams), I'll try to be patient and give him until Thanksgiving like the others.
The simplest explanation is that they weren't trying to trick anybody. They genuinely changed their mind at the last minute. What triggered that I have no idea.
I imagine an intern popping their head into the war room and saying "Uhh, guys...you might wanna take a look at this" before showing them Jabari footage that wasn't just his made shots.
Thank God this man was knocking down his open shots today. With him and KD and Alpi on the floor together, he should have the easiest looks imaginable. He should never be taking a contested shot.
Unlike Reed I have never doubted Jabari. Stretch 6'10 PF/C who are good defensively dont grow on trees.
I swear, I can’t imagine looking at a 6’11 forward who can guard 1 - 5 and shoots .36 - .37 from 3 and thinking, “This guy sucks.”
Love what we got from Jabari this game. It's still an adventure when he puts the ball on the floor, but hard to complain on a night when it's mostly working. If he can be more consistent and start having this kind of performance closer to once a week than once a month, I'll be ecstatic.
I've said... Bari is fine. He aint no superstar, but he's developing into a solid starter! If folks wanna be twisted at the return on a #3 pick whatever... He's going to be a good serviceable starter for us for years to come! He's going to be an Otis Thorpe or Battier level player for us...
Why are so many people acting like he was stinking up the joint the first three games? Not saying you in particular, but just in general. He averaged like 13 ppg while shooting .33 from 3, played solid defense, and only had 2 total turnovers over those three games. That’s a quiet start, not a bad one, and certainly not one that warranted this ridiculous thread.
I’m pleased with his development as long as you don’t allow yourself the luxury of looking back. Which you really shouldn’t be able to do anyway. And I think the same thing on read. These guys are gonna get better. It’s just gonna be a little bit later than some.
