most teams with o-line issues have injuries as a partial/major contributor, but our entire o-line is healthy! Investing heavy cap/draft capital in the o-line won't work if it results in Green/Howard/Mason/Fisher/Scruggs/Robinson/Tomlinson
Holy Heck.... it's from 2017.... https://deadspin.com/court-documents-lsus-ed-ingram-accused-of-sexually-ass-1838371539/
We should have signed Drew Dalman at center in the off-season. He's ranked 5th among centers. Look at Jake Andrews' grades.
Dalman is making $14M/year; the Texans gave Cam Robinson $12M/year. Granted, three years v. a single year - but, still - I don't want to hear they couldn't afford premium free agents. They certainly could have, especially if someone stopped them from burning money on the bargain bin free agents they actually did pursue.
Yeah, I mean... even Joe Mixon, technically, was a bargain bin option: a RB on a playoff contender losing his job who could be had for a 7th round pick in the same offseason Barkley, Jacobs and Henry all switched teams.
It will work if they invest more in guys like Ersery. But they also need to invest money on a proven C/OG in FA too.
Yeah, I said this in the offseason. Also take into CGJ/Autry/Tomlinson/Neiman's money they could've easily afforded Dahlman. Hopefully they dont extend CJ and spend the money on a vet C/OG.
Nice bounce back by the OL. After getting mauled like rag dolls against the Seahawks, the Texans OL played a much better game. This line has pieces that should be stalwarts for years, but it can definitely be improved in the offseason. Yet, it’s in a lot better place if those fellas that are expected to grow into their position, actually do it!
Gotta give the O Line props man, CJ said in his presser they had to have some tough conversations and looks like the O Line showed up, keep it going big boys, you have a huge test VS the Broncos, but I am gonna be happy all week after this win. But good Lord, stop with the swapping out on the LG, that may be the dumbest thing I have seen in a while, one has to be better than the other, pick one and let them gel, I can honestly say I have never seen that
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Niners DL was pretty banged up, and they had to play mostly scrubs, right?
Yes; but Robert Sallah is not on IR, and he's not only one of the best defensive minds in football - he has also terrorized Stroud the past two years. So this was perhaps the most encouraging win of the year, so far.
Mixon is not better than those guys. He's good, and had a good year - but he's not the breakaway threat Barkley or Henry is, and he's 2-years older than Jacobs. A playoff contender was willing to unload him to another playoff contender for minimum compensation. He was, like so many of Caserio's acquisition, a bargain-bin choice.
He's every bit as good as Jacobs and a top 10 RB. Tell me one thing that he's not good at? I thought considering the OL last year he had a great year.
True and that's what happens when most of the FA money is spent on the defense. Although spending 12 mil on Robinson was a waste.
The $$ spent on Robinson was a joke and then add in Gardner Johnson and you just scratch your head, I am glad they got rid of them but not knowing they would suck is a problem, that's just a cool $20 million thrown out the window.........................hell for that we could have a stud OL or two. To be fair Nick has hit on some good ones, but he should not be allowed to judge OL ever again, there is a blind spot for him when it comes to the OL
Agreed, but at least I understand their thought process. They didn't know Ersery would be ready to start full time at LT. So they wanted a vet to protect CJ's blindside, then Robinson got hurt. If he hadn't gotten hurt then Robinson would've been the LT, Howard the RG and Ersery the RT. As far as CGJ goes he was a starting S on the team that won the SB last year and Ryans felt he would be a good culture fit in his defense. Who would've known he was a headcase.
