Reeds current role should be off the bench and surprise opponents by able to score quick 6~9pts within like two mins. I think we got hit by those handful of time last season by opponents where some random bench guys hitting multiple three on us. Reed should be that guy

No, but he won’t be playing OKC 79x either. If he hits his shots, he will play a lot and be valuable. If he doesn’t, then he will be gone by next season.

So there is no middle ground? I think he would have like 9-11 ppg 4-5 apg type of production.

he’s avg 11 and 4 thru three games.

he’s making almost 3 threes a game on 45% shooting.

to me Reed is fine when you consider he really never played last season. To me he’s night and day from a year ago. He’s not scared to shoot like he was last year. He’s playing hard, when he makes a mistake it’s usually because he’s moving to fast.

the reality is if this was Reeds rookie season most ppl would say wow okay he is what they said he was. He’s a three point marksman with interesting skill set offensively that leads you to believe he can be more than just a spot up shooter.

I’m trying to look at Reed for what he is. A young player who played 1 season of college ball. Who wasn’t on the NBA radar when he started his college season but by years end he was seen as sleeper to go number 1.

ppl def knew who Reed was coming out of highschool but no one thought he was a one and done player.

personally I think Reed is going to be a good player in this league. Do I think he’s a future superstar? Prob not. Do I think he can put up numbers like tonight 15/8? Yes I do. I actually think he can potentially do it this season.

I like what I see he’s getting better every game he plays and that’s encouraging. I don’t know what more ppl really expect.

Nah I was responding to the previous poster that what he said that he has to be playoff valuable or he is discarded next season.

I think they would at least give him 2 years at the very least.

I was just pointing out that he’s currently giving the team exactly what you said. Wasn’t really directed at you.

I think Reed is going to continue to get better and better as the season goes on.

he’s a good player and can clearly shoot the ball from deep.

he’s surprisingly fast with the ball in his hands. Rockets need to use that and run more when Reed is in the game. He’s prob better suited to play with Tari and capela tbh.

Then it was a miscommunication, I was just stuck in another mode, carry on then. The get rid of him question mode.

Nook has a history of knowing about the organization that is the reason I asked.

Reed's going to bring a lot...just needs time.
    The Rockets need a stopgap.

Reed is basically the 8 or 9th pick as the Rockets originally wanted him there.....this gives a tad more perspective to it all.

as Brooklyn was said to be around that draft slot, but they lucked into getting the 3rd pick.

I don't think that most of this board realizes that most of the NBA, including the Warriors, really want Reed.

    Yeah. Agreed.

I think Reed Sheppard is the real deal and is no joke.

Once the game slows down for him and we use him the right way, especially on defense, he’s going to take off. Reed looks like he likes to get open off the ball as well so we have to utilize that scoring frenzy potential for us.

The Warriors protect Steph by keeping him out of tough defensive situations late in games… and it works. Udoka should take a page out of Kerr’s book and do the same with Reed.

Unlock his strengths. Support his weaknesses. If Reed even becomes HALF of what Steph is? Oh, we’re cooking.

He had a pretty good game last night and I think he only gets better as he gets more comfortable as the season goes on.

One of the larger issues he's having it seems is that he's deferring too much to the starters....which is understandable. When you are essentially still a rookie, it makes sense that you'd err on the side of deferring to guys like KD and Sengun too much rather than not enough. As he becomes more comfortable playing alongside these guys, I expect him to take even another step forward.

Sheppard makes winning plays like these look easy and effortless. He'll be fine.

Agreed, as he continues to get minutes with the second unit he will build confidence and come into his own. By the end of this season (or maybe next season) he will hopefully be more comfortable with the starters. But I think he looks like the player we drafted - great shooting, great passing. I'm very optimistic for Reed

Reed has actually looked much better the last two games. I am encouraged that he may become what we wanted from him this year which is a solid backup guard with the capability of spreading the floor. I have also been impressed that he is making strides in ball handling and getting to the rim. I believe he is playing the role they intended for him this year and calls to force him into the starting line-up were premature. I fell into the trap a couple of times as well. Defense is still a worry, but our entire team has been failing to live up to the standard they set last year. Part of that is experimentation with the rotations (double big and zone) and part is losing FVV and Dillon. Hopefully Okogie pans out and that will take care of the FVV loss, but Durant is not going to be able to guard the perimeter as well as Dillon, but the added offense will make up for it. Starting Adams and Sengun also forced us into an ill-conceived zone.

Progress! He moved the ball around and made some great passes. His shooting is coming around and I saw him chest up while defending last night which seems like a first. The steal he ripped out of Thomas' hands and dunked was the kind of defensive play that will keep him on the court.

He still needs work on his ball handling and decision-making with the ball in his hands, but experience and minutes will help with that. He needs to keep building on these minutes, but he's trending in the right direction after only 3 games.

He should have played a lot more with the vipers last season to build up his confidence and to gain experience as the primary ball handler. Oh well.

We don’t want you gambling (on or off the court) - Udoker probably
