Clear jab at the system here, twice calling out being asked two run pass plays for two yards, and then expecting miracles from the receivers.

"That's the thing in this offense, every play just doing your job -- even if it means gain of 2 [yards]. That's what we're being asked to do. That's what we're asked of, so that's something I'm still getting used to.

"I think when that time comes, we got to find answers, and that's where/when the ball is getting out for 2 yards, that's when I trust wideout [Xavier Hutchinson] or one of the guys on the outside to make somebody miss and get 8 [yards]. So, that's the type of offense we're living in."

I read the article and I’m not sure I agree that he was complaining or ripping anything. I’m not sure what he was really saying. I think he was just saying they need to do better and they are still learning the offense. Players need to execute.

Running backwards & holding onto the ball, is that what you’re also asked to do too?

Slowik’s fault. Caley’s fault. Caserio’s fault. Demeco’s fault. If he needs everything perfect around him, better have a “properly adjusted” contract when/if you pay him. This is what he wanted, more power, more (full?) control at the line. Didn’t like Slowik, not “meshing” with Caley. Oh, now Caley wants 2 yard plays. “That’s what we’re asked to do.”

Does Joe Burrow have a good line (or defense)? What about Baker currently missing his OL AND WRs? Or Dak missing 2 OL (and defense that can’t stop anyone). Or Herbert missing his two stud tackles. (Alt just came back this week)

Deshaun’s lines/weapons were just as bad (if not worse). “WeLl DeShAuN iS mOrE mObiLe!”
(Hot take: give me pre-massage Deshaun over Stroud)

Stroud's not ripping the offensive playcalling with that quote.

    What else can explain this?

“That's what we're asked of, so that's something I'm still getting used to.”

“So, that's the type of offense we're living in."

It just seems plainly obvious to me. He’s repeating a point about being asked to throw for 2 yards and essentially complaining that it’s the offense he’s being forced to work within.

I like CJ but put Texans Deshaun on this team and they probably would be 5-1

That would make sense if he just said they need to do better and learn the offense. If he was just talking about the need to execute, then why say “that’s something I’m still getting used to” (every offense requires execution), or make a despondent statement that “that’s the type of offense we’re living in.” He’s not still getting used to learning a new offense. He’s still getting used to being told to throw for 2 yards when we need 10. As Stroud says, “that’s the type of offense we’re living in.”

Not sure what you mean here. Stroud’s comments speak for themselves.

His words speak for themselves. As I mentioned above, he’s not “still getting used to” learning a new offense. He’s “still getting used to” being told to throw for 2 yards when we need 10. As Stroud says, “that’s the type of offense we’re living in.” I’m not defending Stroud, just highlighting what he’s actually saying.

“That’s where I think some of the playmaking abilities has to come out” – He’s saying the offense focuses on doing your job and taking what’s given, but there are still moments where players need to create beyond the design.

“That’s the thing in this offense…even if it means gain of 2 yards. That’s what we’re being asked to do.” – He's describing the philosophy. The Texans’ scheme emphasizes efficiency — taking the 2 yard checkdown instead of forcing a risky play. Something he said last year about himself needing to be better at and reflects on it with the next quote.

“That’s something I’m still getting used to.” – naturally aggressive and adjusting to the system. humility, not discontent.

“That’s the type of offense we’re living in.” – He’s summarizing the approach

They're in a tough spot, admittedly by their own fault/incompetence in building the OL.

Can't control the LOS to establish the run/play action, and they can't hold up on the longer developing routes that are needed to Collins and Higgins to shine.

4 hasn't seen the field in a few years and when he was, he sucked...............if you mean 4 from many many years ago on the Texans OK, but that's not really a realistic scenario is it? 4 will likely never see the field again

Of course I meant Texans version of Deshaun. I’m not complaining about CJ. I’m glad he’s our franchise qb

I don’t see this as CJ ripping the offense or play calling. I think it’s a reach trying to take his comments out of context and make the claim that he is ripping the offense..
