Luka was my preseason darkhorse pick for MVP. Regardless of the weaknesses of the Lakers roster, I expected him to blow up this season and have the best year of his career. After being dumped by the Mavs and verbally challenged by the Lakers to be in better shape, I think he's carrying a boulder on his shoulder. His ridiculous first two games didn't surprise me at all. Lost more of it to come. For the record, he's not one of my favorite players and I utterly despise the Lakers. My thoughts are purely objective.
Sorry, I don't mean to vent, but I'm still annoyed about the Luka trade (though I am happy the Mavs are struggling). The Lakers were dead on arrival and had limited options to get better. Now, they have a fantastic offensive duo in Luka and Reaves, LaRavia looks terrific, JJ appears to be a great young coach, and next summer they will have 3 FRPs to trade if they decide to obtain a final piece with a lot of cap space if they do not extend Lebron. They basically went from having one of the worst futures to one of the best because the Mavs are morons. Bleh.
Austin's playmaking took a big step forward ......not sure if that is all Luka but timing is just right.
I think if you took a poll here, Lakers would be at the top of the #1 worst place Luka could have gone list.
Luka has unusually great defensive rebounding for the image of his game. Just defensive glass alone, he's literally up there with Barkley all-time But he is like the anti-Steven Adams on offensive glass. Almost nothing there lol. Doing the Westbrook'ing thing of getting the defensive rebound himself to control the ball. So he ends up being simply above average overall rebounding
A subtle difference in sound. Saw good example on reddit: č = The "t" in the (at least American/Canadian) pronunciation of "try," "trilobite", "tribunal." ć = the "Ch" in the (at least the American/Canadian) pronunciation of "Check", "Cheese", "Choo-choo."
But why did the league force Dallas to give him up and trade him to the LAKERS . . . . . I ask sarcastically? Such a bullshit, transparently corrupt league.
Wait, so its pronounced Don - Tich instead on DON - Kich? Have I just been hearing it wrong this whole time or are people saying DON - Kich?
No, sorry the example wasn't clear. It's like the "ch" sound when saying "try". It's a little harder of a sound than the "ch" in "cheese". Hard to explain. Slightly different tongue position. Most commonly I have heard people say donchick which is wrong. she is saying it right, but didn't explain the difference in the sounds
Imagine "Č" in "Church". If you soften the sound, you get "Ć". This guy explains it well, but the video below is a bit longer and better at explaining:
