Basketball is not that complicated

It is a mixture of skillsets, game types, and movement.

Right now our chemistry is off, and frankly we are not playing the right players to facilitate getting our best players the ball.

We are a PnR heavy team but we are mostly trying to run it with Amen who is not a good offensive shooter, so it limits it's effectiveness to his driving.

We are starting Adams who is standing under the basket blocking that way anyway.

So, either you bench Adams and play someone that is a threat on the outside like Reed, or you need a different system where everyone moves (Probably not great with a 37 year old Durant).

So, it is a matter of playing the right pieces......I know Reed is not ready on D, but he is far and away the best PnR option on the team ATM.

Let him initiate the offense with Sengun or KD, and move Amen to the Dunker spot, and our offense will take off.

Now, we will be worse on D until Reed figures out how to stay in front of his man, but we are struggling on offense because we have no flow and it is ISO ISO ISO.

It doesn't help that we got rid of a very good 3pt shooter for peanuts in Cam - but the biggest issue our team has is that we don't have a SINGLE creator with the ball in his hands on this team - not one.......no one that can penetrate and Dish - so we lack that contrast to the PnR at the top - we can get by the way we are, but IMHO, I would be looking to offload Capela and Tari for a CREATIVE guard, don't care if it is a SG or PG, just one that can create for themselves and others.

In the end we are still right there, figuring out chemistry, I figure we struggle until around December - and we find our way. I hope Ime stops this double big as starters against everyone it is a situational lineup and it hurts our players on offense by clogging the paint with Adams.

I believe in the team, I think we will get there, but really hope we find a guy who can penetrate/create.

Bench Adams - Start Reed and we will be much more well rounded and better with better spacing on offense....

Judging from you wanting to turn the offense over to Reed Sheppard, basketball is much too complicated for you.

You don't TURN it over to anyone, but we need contrast, we are a very easy team to guard right now.

And we don't have a creative dribbler on the floor - Reed and JD Davidson are all we have.....

It is quite obvious to anyone that knows ball.

I would have this team humming in 2 practices......and yes, with the way the roster is constructed - start Reed, and JD would be backing up Reed......

Double bigs would be situational and for small spurts.

BTW - isn't it funny how people criticize others but don't DARE put their own thoughts out there for some odd reason.

Easier to not take a stand, and just b****, I guess.

He isn't that guy, he is an end of the play pick and pop player, you can't get him doing that at 37 years old, he is an efficient scorer, but isn't the do it all player he once was......

I’m sure you aren’t referring to me. I put my opinions out there probably excessively. We actually agree on FVV and Ime, but not on Reed. He’s just not ready for prime time. Throwing him out there when you have a better option in Okogie is a mistake. We also will have a lot of trade chips at the deadline and this off-season if neither works out. Really all we need to do is slightly improve our offense and bring back the stifling defense we had last year and we could go all the way. Durant showed he can still be the closer we need, if Ime can figure it out.

Okogie is not a creator, we need someone that can create for themselves and others. ....Reed and Davidson are the best at that but neither are ideal.

And yes, Reed needs playing time he isn't there yet, neither by the way is Amen.....both need to just play.

As for referencing it is a general comment for anyone that weekly and meekly comes into a thread and criticizes without their own solution.

Says basketball is not that complicated, then goes on to say Reed is the solution. And of course the usual Cam Whitmore dick riding.

See, the last two posts are a prime example of weak minded and meek people who just come in to b**** about others, never offering any actual content or context, just whining and b****ing.

It's actually quite complicated and your post illustrates that. Once we figure out, we will be fine. A couple better possessions this past week, and we would be flying high with total confidence. Patience is required.

DD isnt wrong. Take half measures and you get half measured results. You are starting *3* non shooters and are hoping to succeed.

The offense just *looks* better when Reed is on the floor. He'll learn on defense but he's just a much better ball handler than anyone else and is an actual threat from 3. Starting Adams looks so bad right now. Detroit destroyed the zone yesterday.
