I honestly think we might’ve won those last two games if he didn’t play. Even if Holiday had gotten those minutes, the impact would’ve been way more positive. Reed is always going to be a defensive liability, and I just don’t see how he fits what Ime is trying to build. I still don’t understand why we drafted him if he doesn’t match the identity or the system.
Reed was 3/4 from long range tonight, he just needed to hit a couple of those runners. His defense was improved.
No, but he should have less role where he can play against team that also have smaller guards like Curry, Reaves, etc. so far he went against probably top 5 PG SGA and Cade who can cook Reed for breakfast so would be nice to let Ime to start Okogi meanwhile letting Reed just do catch and shoot open 3 instead of running our offense. Once we get to December we get to see what’s out there but it’s safe to assume we gotta use that assets to get All-Star caliber guard like Derrick White or even Coby White who can create his own shots. At this point I think it’s safe to go for big time guard since even if Fred comes back he ain’t gonna be the same and good time to start working on next PG
He has so much potential offensively, but his physicality is severely lacking. The question is whether or not that's something he can improve upon.
Give me an offensive coach who can draw up plays where Reed catches and lets it fly instantly. Yes he's not great in other aspects of the game, but he also doesn't have a coaching staff who is putting him in position to utilize literally the one f'ing aspect of his game which he excels in.
Not really but his trajectory just doesn't align with the team right now. He is going to develop but not with a team with championship aspirations. He would probably be good in a team like Brooklyn right now. Similar to Cam Whitmore, he needs a change of scenery and we need to replace him with someone who is a better fit for our timeline
I was at the game and the team doesnt trust him everytime he made a mistake you can see it on the team's body language.
I still haven’t given up on Jalen, Reed is young, but I gotta be honest I don’t see him being able to overcome his limitations. Whoever said he is more Brent Price has probably called it. He has to be a bull dog at his height. He’s not that guy. Likely will never change. He has to be a power ball handler at his height. He had an off-season to correct. He did not. Likely never will. He has to be a pure shooter at his height. He’s not been that guy either. He should be able to get the shooting stroke eventually. But that’s not enough.
What are you seeing in Reed that gives you confidence that he will be an integral part of an elite team? Genuine question as other than his shooting he doesn't seem to be above average at anything
No. I never had any expectations for him. He was at most a late first round pick to me before the draft, he still is.
I'd package him for any damn guard who had a handle and athleticism, and size who could hit a damn shot now and then... Tell me quick, where was Von Wafer drafted?! He's a Bust.
