Ime ain't that great a coach but my long-held belief is that coaching impact is vastly overrated so who GAF. Rockets problem is/will be they don't have good enough players, particularly guards to do guard things, like guard guards and dribble and shoot. Ime can try to mitigate it by playing sextuple bigs but any coach would have a hard time with it.
He's just not a good offensive coach but Sengun and Durant don't need one so we hope that's enough to contend for a title. Amen I'm a bit more worried about. Other coaches look for any centimeter to open space for their wings to drive. Ours just prefers rebounds over driving lanes. Here is the list of players who, in my eyes at least, didn't meet expectations in terms of getting to the rim whether those expectations were low or high: Whitmore Eason Green Amen FVV Holiday Sheppard That's everyone. Must be all of their fault right lol. Now I'll watch you nitpick over such and such guy, and ignore the pattern. If you get rebounds or can CREATE 3's, you score on this team. If not, you will have it harder than most teams. Every team he's ever coached has underperformed on TS%. After the rebounding trick, I don't know if he's got another plan when it doesn't work. We need an offensive coordinator. It's early though. I give Ime 20 games to figure it out.
You forgot the part where we were on their home court and it was ring ceremony night. p.s. I'm autistic and I'm not complaining.
i would have liked to have seen better clock management to end the periods... when we should have been holding for the last shot we scored and gave them back the ball with time on the clock...
I don't think Ime would accept another head honcho like Mike Malone, our whole FO ethos is "less is more, don't get in my way". Our best chance is probably Royal Ivey leaving in the summer and Stone finding some fresh face without an ego from college/overseas who's actually good at drawing plays and putting together a cohesive offensive system. Thats a very long shot though, I don't have any trust in the FO's ability to scout a coach.
Why do you think I liked KPJ so much???? His attitude? He was the only player on the team that could get anywhere on the floor any time he wanted. DD
Basically if we had a coach producing elite offense…. Then a lot of you mongoloids will be complaining how we need a defensive assistant coach when we lost to OKC by one point.
I disagree. This is the prime case of "If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" What pnr btn KD and Sengun would have accomplished? Put Chet on KD and Dort on Sengun? Ime didn't see the benefit of it. Also Dort was allowed to grab KD all game which made him (KD) less aggressive
Fully agree on Amen' 3 PT %. I'm optimistic he'll get better. Expecting +30% from him. Irrelevant to the discussion, not yet bought into Alpi 3P shot being legit yet. Gotta see some more. Off ball Amen is still spacing problem though.[/QUOTE] That’s a valid point. Until he becomes a “good” 3 pt shooter he will be a spacing problem off ball, although not from the right corner I believe it was where he was like 40% last year. That can’t always be engineered, however. We are not a perfect team as constructed, but maybe the best team in the league if we get a competent shooting guard
Coach Ime needs to play at least 10 guys. Also he should stop running zone against good shooting teams. Amen, KD and Reed need to run pick n roll with Alpe way more. It’s easy basketball. They are playing outside in when they should play inside out offensively.
I worry more about stone’s drafting. He’s only gotten amen and sengun out of his draft picks that are hits
