If castle was on the rockets he woulda been buried behind FVV too. He got minutes cuz the spurs have no one at the guard spot. That’s why they traded for Fox who they ended up shutting down. He didn’t earn any minutes. The spurs were tanking once Wemby got blood clots.
Exactly. Did he have a bad night on defense... hell yea. Can he learn and get better with more playing time... lets hope so.
Yeah, I don't really get the Castle fascination other than the hatred of picking Reed. Castle getting lots of minutes on the tanking Spurs last season is similar to KPJ getting lots of minutes on the tanking Rockets. On a good team, the guy could be a decent player off the bench, not starter minutes.
Is there any reason why you folks are giving this kid a much longer leash than others? Just asking. Because he hasn’t flashed AT ALL. I thought he was good defensively but he gets cooked. He is short and does nut have point guard ball handling skills and he obviously cowers on the biggest stage. I’ve seen enough. Move on.
Moving on from a 2nd year player who played incredibly inconsistent minutes his rookie year is pretty ****ing funny lol. Also if you don't think he's flashed then you just don't know ball imo.
He's going to try some things alright, like missing shots, and feeling the cool breeze as his man runs by him.
I think he'll be fine as long as be can hit a lot of 3's. Should be taking 8 attempts because that's always going to have to be his baseline. When people start respecting that shot, they will prefer to guard him closer and that will make it easier for him to get by them. Then we're gucci.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ers-rockets-warriors-more-first-week-findings "Their answer is on the roster, I'm a believer in Reed Sheppard and he will step into that role [alongside Thompson]," a veteran executive said. "You can focus on what he can't do, but I've followed him since he was a teenager and all he's done is overcome doubters. Just give him time." But, again, there's a debate. "Sheppard is such a target on defense, it'll be tough to play him at times," a league scout said. "He doesn't have good awareness, he doesn't show good feel and he's often out of position. He does have good hands." Sheppard defended 11 drives in the Rockets' opening loss to the Thunder, and he was blown by five times, according to ESPN Research.
I don’t know what Reed will become. None of us do. But what I do know is there’s a lot of hate in here for a guy who has played the equivalent of 14 NBA games. 14. 14x48 minutes. That’s not defending him… That’s just a fact. So, those who have “seen enough” - where? when? It’s difficult to make a judgement on him at this point. Let’s see him playing 25-30 min a night CONSISTENTLY for the first couple months of this season, settling into this role with a new star on the squad, and then evaluate. Even those minutes he has played (14 NBA games worth) were extremely inconsistent and in spurts. When he started those three games, he averaged 20-5-3 with 2 steals, shooting 52% from 3. So he has shown some signs, but let’s see where things are at after Christmas, and then judge the results. This website should be called overreaction.clutchfans.net
WTF does that mean? What balance? This is infuriating. Listen kiddo, We need you to be 1997 Matt Maloney. That’s not much to ask from a #3 pick in his second year. Just bring the ball up, dump it to KD or Alpi and spot up behind the 3. Like in 1997, we’ll try to survive somehow with you lead feet and the blow-bys. Don’t want to hear about being aggressive, about balance and about how much fun you have learning. We have one of the best players ever in his last years, and a budding Monster. Our lead guard went down. Can you play a simple role, as a stop-gap, so that we don’t waste the season? F your balance and your fun. We need minimum competence in a specific role. I don’t want to hear your self-indulging bulsht.
I know NBA players love to use "have fun" term a lot. If I was Reed, I wouldn't use that term right now. Doesn't fit in what he's supposed to be communicating. Parents - help him.
Ironically, it's the same people who wanted Jalen burnt at the stake. And they even have the audacity to act like it's the Jalen fans who are flip-flopping now they're giving insane leash to somebody who's shown less than a 10th of the star potential at the same point in their careers. We went down this road with Jalen who DID actually flash loads, let's not do it again and waste a season of KD.
LOL, what leash? He's played 600 minutes total in his career...not a single Rockets top pick to include Sengun and Eason were so held back. He's had the shortest leash of any Rockets player and has more than earned his minutes and more. It's nonsense like this that make me question if you have ever watched the Rockets play.
Some people wrote off Sengun from the start. He's too slow on defense and would be hunted. He's too small on offense as a center. We need rim protector, lob threat... Some of those people still don't like Sengun. Same with Jabari's hating. He's too weak to defend the interior, too slow to defend the perimeter, too stiff to create on offense... can't even shoot at an elite level... Tari after one bad game in the season opener, "Trade him!"
