That's pointless to even allocate if you know he won't accept it in advance. Just doesn't make sense. That's an asset we drafted and invested 3 years of development. It's just going to cost us more next summer than it would have this summer.

Of course we don't know as a matter of fact what Phoenix would accept, that's not a reasonable expectation. We heard reports they didn't want Jalen. It's totally reasonable to assume they'd prefer a flexible first round pick instead especially in their dire situation. It's totally logical that we drew a line in the sand in terms of picks.

Fred is likely to have the worst season of his career. It's not a foregone conclusion. It's just highly likely given his age, nosedive in efficiency, decade of injury prone-ness, height. He's coming off a big injury. It's just common sense to expect something like that.

I wanted Kevin Durant when it was unpopular, you don't have to convince me. I just think we gave up the wrong guard and we will have to pay up to cover for that now. We can afford it though.

Let it go mathloom, JG is gone. It's okay you cheered for him, we all wanted him to succeed. He just sucks.

    1) brings up Jalen green
    2) tells someone else they're not over it

    *Thumbs up*

    Sure.

so everytime someone says loser JG sucks you are required to white knight him? or you are basically defending yourself for all the BS you spouted?

Codman, it's good to see you posting.
I do wonder which player(s) on those teams might be of benefit to us. Obviously we need a distributor.
    So...........

I understand you are upset he was traded, I'm not trying to rile you up. It's okay to be wrong about a player's potential, GMs get it wrong all the time and they get paid millions. Jalen is just an inefficient chucker and that's okay.

Is the idea that Houston is looking for a more ready plug and play piece or is there still some desire to pick up moldable talent? Since you mentioned Sac, it felt like Devin Carter was always a Houston type of guy. I like Carrington too but he seems like less of an Ime type of player.

Contextually, I understand why they did it, but taking Reed over Steph Castle is unfortunately going to be one of those decisions that would have changed our timeline significantly - certainly it changes our priorities with what Tari might be turned into if he doesn't work out here. There is also a strong part of me that says that Tari's leverage as a restricted FA is pretty weak so maybe we can retain him on a much better contract and he becomes an even more valuable resource but that is obviously playing with fire because you don't want to risk losing him for nothing.

You seem to believe teams would be lining up to sign Tari to a high offer sheet next year in Restricted Free Agency. Which teams do you think would be the most likely to have the cap space and desire to pay him that much? I think there will be maybe 5 or 6 teams that would have that much space available and they will probably be after one of the top free agents available. Every list I see has Tari outside of the top 20 free agents for next summer and I agree.

Last year only Miles Turner got a deal over 20 million to switch teams in free agency. Josh Giddey and Kuminga got more in restricted free agency, but they were high lottery picks, and they didn't get an offer sheet either. They were also signed to be starters. Tari will probably get less playing time this year than last year due to the teams depth at forward, leading to worse stats. I think if Tari was offered 20 mil it was a mistake to pass on it, he will probably get less next year.

    Huge difference between:

a summer where 5 or 6 teams can sign FA's or act as 3rd teams to facilitate big trades
    vs
last summer where essentially 1.5 teams had all the cap space and things were historically tight

Yes, I 100% believe Tari would have gotten a $20m+ deal in an open market. At his age even if he has an injury history, if the doctor says he is healthy then teams will invest in him. If he has a slightly better 3PT% than last season and plays over 60 games (meet in the middle and say not even fully healthy) he'll get a big offer sheet similar to McDaniels, Raptors OG, young Ariza, etc.

It's not as common as you think to have a guy his age, size/speed/defense, who has a mediocre 3PT shot. It's always in demand. The Lakers will take two right now. Cavs would love one. Spurs will take one too. Celtics, Nets, Wizards, Magic, Jazz, Sixers. Wolves could use another. You essentially need 2 of these types (3&D wing) to win a title so there will always be demand for it.

I'm indifferent either way. I think he has a good season and we keep him, everyone wins. That is as long as Ime stops flooding the paint with bodies, making life miserable for all his slashers and drivers.

Dude, once again, not trying to rile you up at all. I think you must have me confused with someone else.

That being said, if you are going to go there, I'm not the one who wrote entire public love letters to JG in the form of 11 chapters, calling him the next big thing and putting all your chips on that sinking boat. I would definitely say that's more embarrassing, but hey, to each their own.

Imagine the certified idiot who spent days hunched over the keyboard writing dissertations begging people to believe Jalen Green was a good player, tells someone else they're embarrassing themselves.

That might be the funniest thing I've ever seen on Clutchfans.

Maybe I misunderstood your post. I don't get what would be embarrassing about being a fan of Jalen Green and the Rockets but ok on that.

As far as I was concerned nothing at all. We all hoped JG became that guy.
