About what? When did I say that Reed is some future star or even particularly good. I said citing shooting percentage for one game is useless. Address the point that is made in the comment, not what you imagine my opinion to be, my guy.
Seems like a common theme with all other draftees, no matter where drafted, are outplaying Reed Sheppard.
I know but I just would want the offense to really flow well from the start, and then bring in Adams off the bench. I like the double big lineup, but not starting the game. Also gives Reed a chance to just have a Matt Maloney type of role to start the game, and have a little clearer role so we can see what we have a bit more. The Rockets obviously have a need, and Reed either fills it or they need to move on, and move on fast. So I say start him now, and if keeps performing like he's in middle school playing with the varsity squad, then you know for sure what you need to go do in trades before December. But if you just try and mask it to win a game here and there with lineups that aren't sustainable long-term and we get to February, or March then options might not be there anymore.
The good news here is that it seems unlilely Udoka is going to let the sink ship without trying to upgrade. Reed is going to have a couple of months to step it up, but he seems a defensive target and it is very obvious on certain line ups
Yeah, I counted at least 3 sure-fire assists that didn't get on the scoresheet because our other guys muffed them. Not to excuse Reed's defensive weakness. He has got to shift focus from steals (which he loves) and vertical reach (which he doesn't have and can't sufficiently fake) to footwork, which would take away 6 points a game in blow-bys.
I think the pressure of opening on the road to the best team in the league got to Reed. He is already under tremendous pressure, because he was supposed to be a 10-15 min backup to FVV this year. Amen caved a bit to the pressure as well with his 3 point shooting. He will be fine. He was taking over the game when he got hurt. He has to look for his shot more even though he was finding wide open guys all night. My biggest concern is Reed’s defense. Ime is trying to hide it with a terrible zone. He will also lean on the double big lineup unless Sheppard has an epiphany on that end of the court. The double big absolutely destroys our spacing. I love that Sengun is shooting 3’s well, but I don’t anticipate he will shoot 62% going forward. Overlooked is Durant’s 0-4 shooting from 3. Lack of spacing will destroy Durant on this team, so Sheppard has to figure it out quickly to save Ime from himself. I’m not for being overly patient this year. If we have to take a big gamble to replace Reed early and it’’s there (Reeves) we should do it. Lakers looked like dog sh*t without Lebron last night. GSW will be the real deal if both Curry and Butler stay healthy. They have the best coach in the league albeit the most punchable.
That’s what he is, he doesn’t have a crossover to break defenders down to get in the lane and find open teammates. Hopefully he improves soon
Trade him before his value goes down too low. I guess there is still a chance he is a year away from being a year away as a starter. He looks like a career back up shooting guard.
As to Reed's defense....I'm not going to **** on him too much for getting occasionally cooked by people who were occasionally cooking Amen and Tari as well. The Thunder are really good....they averaged 120 points per game last season and we held them to 104 in regulation.
What is Reed lacking in comparison to Fred? I wonder if it is possible for Reed to become another small point guard like Fred. Another year or two of strength building? Does Reed have the frame for it? Does he have the same court awareness? Can he pass as well? He seems to be as athletic as Fred and at least as good a shooter. Does he have the same mental toughness? Puzzled.
We don’t have 2 or 3 years to wait. That is the issue. He has to step up this year or we waste a year of Durant. Reed was supposed to be 10-15 minute back-up this year. FVV’s injury forced us into a bad situation. It sucks for Reed, but if he doesn’t improve vastly, Stone will make a change (hope it’s not a panic bad trade) before the deadline.
Truthfully, Reed was fine out there in the opener. Reed’s defensive issues were magnified because the help defense was late/too tired to rotate over. He will continue to learn how to play defense with his size and will continue to get stronger. Im actually optimistic Reed can get 20 MPG.
Sure, give Reed more time, but the 2 situations & roles (Green in 2022 and Reed in 2025) aren't very comparable.
I agree with you but your statement is somewhat of an understatement! Best W/L in NBA history: 1. Warriors 2015-16 73-9 .890% 2. Bulls 1995-96 72-10 .878% 3T. Bulls 1996-97 69-13 .841% 3T. Lakers 1971-72 69-13 .841% 4. 76ers 1966-67 68-13 .840% 5T. Thunder 2024-25 68-14 .829% 5T. Celtics 1972-73 68-14 .829% The Rockets as a whole did very well against an excellent team. We have 5 new players on the team of which 3 played last night. This team will only improve as the season goes on. ALL is good in Rockets Nation!!! ....... ....... .......
