Can we just stop it with the “well Stockton and Nash were small too” nonsense please? Those guys are transcendent point guards that only come around once in a generation. Their pg instincts, dribbling, passing, and ability to just see the floor in slow motion wasn’t just something they worked hard at in their sophomore season in the nba. Those are God given talents that… I’m sorry.. Reed does not have. Yes he could improve and maybe one day be on par skill wise with a Fred VV or something similar but he’s not a natural point guard by any stretch and I don’t know if the rockets are in a position to have someone learn on the fly. I think Reed should start actually on Friday just to try and open up the floor a bit. I like Adam’s better off the bench. However I would be prepared to pull Reed and put freaking Holiday in the starting lineup here soon as nauseating as that sounds. Give it a couple more games to see if he was just star struck but man… I still don’t see it with him guys.
I think Davison would have done a better job with that amount of time to play. I think the Rockets need to experiment with that.
They will, it is just 1 out of 82. Just because of KD, that is where his journey started, Opening night and they had their Ring Banner Night.
With all due respect, this fascination with JD Davison is a trip. On *no planet* would *any* NBA team give minutes to Davison over Reed right now.
Not if Reed continues to play this bad. 27% FG got destroyed on both sides of the ball. He needs to pick it up he's a third overall pick. AJ Mitchell 2nd round from his own class outplayed him tonight.
When you quote field goal percentage for a single game as some kind of point in an argument it makes it hard to take what you’re saying seriously.
He shot 35% FG last year in around 55 games. Dont act like this is some kind of anomaly. How many games have we played? 1 rignt? So you are the one who shouldnt be taken seriously. Plus I didnt even say kick him off after one game I said if he continues to play this bad which would be a series of games.
Pistons is also a bad matchup for Reed they have 6'6 PG in Cade and a bunch of good defensive wings like Ausar, Holland and even Duncan Robinson.
One f-ing game. He also played really well the one game he started againts OKC last March. Two f-ing games.
I don't think Reed seems that small. It's just that OKC and the Rockets are both massive teams. But he does need to improve ASAP, especially on the defensive end - they targeted him a ton.
He does, but not necessarily because of size, but because of how slow he is to react to everything. The NBA game is still too fast for him. I think he has good defensive instincts, but he’s too slow to react. I’d like to think he can get there, but it’s going to be hard to play him on a team with championship aspirations. And it does no good to send him to the G-League. He needs big minutes on a bad team.
No they didn’t.....Like the old folks would say, " You stop that lying". Stockton and Nash always had handles. They were natural PGs, Reed is not.
Well obviously. But he can learn how to better position himself, and he already has pretty good defensive instincts in certain areas such as creating steals.
What felt off was Aquaman and Alpi never got over to set a screen consistently for him. 50/50. Maybe Reed has to be more demonstrative in calling for that pick. When FVV had the ball, you had three guys ready to screen at the top of the key. FVV isn't getting around anyone without a screen. The excellent pass right into Adams' paws for the easy dunk that was miss handled looms large. Should have been a 5 assists, 1 turnover night if they call jort for his holding of KD. Defensively he has a target on him, but a few steals credited to Alpi and Amen came from his pressures. It evened out to Zero in the +/- and defensive rating. But yeah he does look small, the opposite of Harden looking faaat phenomenon.
