Show where I said that... Clutch fans is a broad brush. I'd take a Rafer Alston or Pat Bev right now.. we have neither. A competent PG is a QB who is a extension of a coach.. right now we don't have that.
Point Sengun and Point Durant is 1 pt loss in a 2OT game. Point FVV is a double digit loss. Pretty clear which is more effective.
Depends, because there was a Home game against OKC when Fred Van Vleet dropped 36 or 38 I believe and won basically half of the game. And also it would be Point Sengün and Point Durant and Point Fred.
Yes there was that one game where Fred did good, which was the only game we won. All other times he was ass and we lost. If we had point Fred Point Kd and Point Sengun doesnt happen because Fred always dribbled the air out of the ball. All this Fred pining reminded me of when Fred got hurt, came back and shot 2/15 or something.
No joke when we got him some on HERE was saying that was the worst signing ever. I was like you are crazy
I would like to trade for a guard with solid ball-handling skills at the deadline...and I don't miss FVV. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive. This team belongs to KD, Sengun, Amen, and Bari - FVV would have taken away from that.
I mean, his initial contract was fine. But his extension, nah. We could have used that money to fill out our guard depth with younger guys.
We had a hard time just bringing the ball up the court. We lack ball handlers, so yes we do miss Fred. Also, outside of Sengun making 5 three pointers, the Rockets shot 19% on three pointers. So, yes we miss Fred. And, we had 21 turnovers. Yes, we miss Fred.
Like it or not, with FVV we do have a better chance and are more like a real contender. However, without FVV, Sengun and Amen will have to take more responsibilities and may grow faster than we expected. Without FVV, we have to give Reed some real minutes and let's see how it works out in the end. So, overall, I don't miss FVV that much. The only thing bothering me is that we probably will have to waste another precious year of the already-37-years-old KD. Tha's the only thing but again it is what it is, injury is part of the game, we have to accept it.
He certainly would have lessened our turnovers, gotten the ball to our bigs down low where they could actually exploit our size advantage, and made sure KD got the ball more in space. These were our big problems in the game. No doubt in my mind we avoid OT and win this game with Fred.
The Rockets should have done everything they could have to get Shane Larkin on this team after seeing how well he played with our star player.
We really didn’t have much problem bringing the ball up court. For the most part, we were in our half court offense much more quickly than with FVV walking it up. I don’t remember any of our turnovers having occurred bringing the ball up. We played against the best defense in the league at stealing the ball and our half court spacing was sh*t. As usual, Ime relies almost solely on isolation offense which was good with Amen and horrible with anyone else. If you insist on playing Adams then get him setting off-ball screens for Durant who is too slow to free himself any more. Ime’s offense will only work when you are hitting 3’s and only Alpi could do that last night. Adams is a stiff on defense. He is a one trick pony and needs to be our backup center, not starting center. If Reed can’t start, we need to trade for someone who can. It’s only one game and we are going to win more than 50 this year, but that is not the goal. The goal is a championship and by year-end Ime is going to have to find an answer in the half-court other than trying to out rebound everybody.
We do need better pg skills, especially handling the ball and passing to kd and Sengun at the right time. Reed and Amen will get better at it and we have enough assets to get a pg. what I miss is an offensive coach who doesn’t rely on the fvv Sengun pnr. All of Sengun, Amen, Bari need bigger roles and we have kd joining. We really needed to go past fvv ball. It will be painful but I am okay with it.
The question is can we beat OKC in a 7 game series with our roster as constructed minus FVV? I don't think so. They'll have Jdub back and I think at that point we have to be honest, we can't beat them as constructed. FVV gives us a chance though, I think he does, even if they have Jdub, but as we are now we do need more help.
