The Ukrainans were offered a deal repeatedly e.g. Minsk 1, 2 etc. that there would be no land loss except for Crimea which since around 1780 had been part of Russia up until arounf 1953 Krushchev gave it as a friendly gesture. Crimea was non-negotiable as it was Russia's prot to the Black Seas and the rest of the world and a nuclear weaponed NATO base there (analogous to a Chinese one in say Tijuana was intolerable. The four Russian speaking Oblasts that at a minimum will now be lost were to be the type of autonomy similar to Quebec in Canada.

Questions for those who want the Ukrainians to keep fighting no matter how more land and lives they lose. Why?

    1) It is that it just absolutely wrong, immoral or against international law,, so no cost is too high ? Ukraine or any other country should have an inviolable right to have whatever foreign military bases they want even if their much bigger neighbor sees it as a threat.

    2) Ukraine can actually win or at the least weaken Russia, Putin the great evil?

3)The fight should reasonably continue until Ukraine and hence Europe --and even the USA lol --have security? If this is the goal how does this end with Russia/Putin the great evil?

    4) If the Russians and Putin are really the new Hitler/Stalin, why has neither the US, NATO or the European sent their own military to fight in Ukraine. Doesn't this show that the leaders do not believe the propaganda they put out for ordinary citizens i.e consumer of mainstream news?

    5) Is there any possibility that since war is very profitable business for some of the countries outside the countries outside the war zone this could be a factor?

Sam, you can do better than name calling. You forgot to do some your typically childish potty talk.

So, seeing that "NEW SANCTIONS" are going to be levied by the US and Euro countries, I have to ask myself this one question.

why weren't these sanctions in place before?????

I'm no expert in foreign affairs, but if you want to hit Russia with sanctions, why not do it 3 years ago. They would be much worse off than they are now.

Please do not tell me that it is because Trump is Putin's b****. I'm nowhere close to a Trump supporter of any sort, but these new sanctions are mainly European in nature.
Why did everyone wait so long????

Just looking for any information on this.

"In January, the Biden administration imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas -- but held off imposing penalties on Rosneft and Lukoil over concerns that it could drive up global energy prices.

According to experts, Rosneft and Lukoil, the companies targeted Wednesday, are two of the world’s biggest energy companies, and together export 3.1 million barrels of oil per day. Rosneft alone is responsible for 6% of global and nearly half of all Russian oil production."
