It’s glaring how small he looks on the court. He looks like a high schooler out there .

Reed wasn’t good but our rotation players were not playing well covering for Reed. Every team has the weak defender like Luka, Trae nd etc but they plan ahead to cover the paint soon as they blown by but they just couldn’t do it tonight due to Tari ******** all night. Clint got benched right away when he couldn’t cover the straight up dunk from Wiggins when it was clear pass through to stop him at the rim

John Stockton was 1 inch shorter and played 19 seasons. Reed hasn’t even played a full season yet with heavy minutes.

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt?!!

We gave Jalen Green 4 YEARS to get it together. I think we can give Reed Sheppard at least 1 or 2 full years with heavy minutes to see what we have.

Players smaller than Reed have performed well in the NBA. It’s not so much his size, but his lack of confidence. He plays scared. I’d like to see him attack the paint and make things happen.

Stockton never played in a positionless league.

Back in the today you could be 6'0 guarding 6'1 - 6'2 every night. Now your asked to guard 6'4+ most nights

    Underrated comment.

He is a high IQ player.

It'll be criminal not giving him time to develop like they did with low IQ players.

Trial by fire. He’ll get it together. It was opening night against the champs.

It is interesting to think of how he'd hold up in today's league

Positionless, coaches that love switching bad for him.

Overall more ruthless exploitation of weak points & optimized/less casual offenses bad for him.

More 3 point shooting good for him

In conclusion **** John Stockton & Karl & the whole franchise

John Stockton played what 30 years ago. Yeah… nba athleticism had complete changed today when compared to that time. Reed is too small and too slow. He’s unplayable

His jumper is way too inconsistent for me... I never feel like he's gonna make it which is concerning for a player whose best attribute is shooting

He's also hesitant to shoot. He needs to be aggressive and hit at a very high rate to play in the NBA.

Rockets had to switch to zone when he was in because he’s just too slow and too small

I think will figure it out it’s only game 1 but he is definitely not a starting point guard. He’s too short, his lateral movement is too slow. We need to trade for a starting point guard at some point this year

Are you really comparing Reed to Luka and Trae? Luka is prob the face of the league and Trae slaps his nuts all over NY every year. Reed is nowhere near the level of offense Luka and Trae bring to make up for the poor defense

The problem is the era we are in with skilled bigs and lanky wings.

Stockton... or Mugsy, could thribe in the NBA because there weren't many big players who had their skills. Now, so many bigs have playmaking skills, that it's rendering the small, smart, skillful guard obsolete.

All I can say is.. play Reed against Yuki Nakamura please!

Anyway, I'm not saying Reed won't succeed, it's just hearder in this era. He has the shooting and the smarts. Hopefully his defense comes along and he can be a contributor in the league.
