same rebounds as Amen per 36 mins same blocks as Amen and Adams per 36 mins same 3p% as FVV (1.6 made out of 4.7 attempts per 36 mins) we can say his injuries may have slowed his development but yeah his injuries and health is why he wasn't able to agree on an extesion with the rockets and I'm fine with that
I knew this so it's not surprising . He's a good piece but he's not part of the future core. He will be the main piece when we trade for an east and west vet. The main worry is that he'll become disgruntled and it will impact his play. Regardless, Bari is going to have a breakthrough year with KD to make up for any shortcomings. Their bond on and off the court is strong.
25M is Jabari money - a solid reliable starter currently 3rd best of our core who is poised to make a leap considering the health I think Stone just offered 20M a year for 3 to 4 yrs or he could have offered 25M non guaranteed but just for a year or 2.
We'll find out in the coming weeks - button IF Jabari continues his pre-season form, he is a steal of a contract. Surely that would then reduce what Tari might hope to get though. This is a big risk for Tari. Guaranteed money is guaranteed money. 15mill per for 4-5 years might not be as sexy as 25mill per - but either way you're set for life. The bigger risk is ending up injured, and missing half the season, and getting 7mill per offers. Still life changing money I suppose.... but....
I'm fine without an extension - maybe give him some extra push this season... maybe his number goes up or maybe it goes down by the time he hits the market as a rfo... i'm good seeing how this year plays out...
Cod, you’ve been throwing out signals about Tari for a while now. I have to hand it to you. Once again you are ahead of us all. I guess I just didn’t want to believe it; im a huge Tari guy. I like players with big motors and I personally think Tari has more to show skills-wise with more time. Tari has played better than Bari through 3 seasons and I don’t think there’s much of a debate about that. But about 20 games into last season, we really saw that glimpse of how good Bari can be, before he broke his hand. I am convinced that had that injury not occurred, we would have seen the beginning of Bari’s breakout last season. His ceiling is higher than Tari’s. He’s also basically 3 yrs younger. So I do think the rockets made the right decision locking him up. All that said, I really wish I knew what Houston was offering Tari and how scary the medical is. There’s a decent chance we won’t find out. I guess my question is: if Tari’s injury is truly still a big risk, why would we expect to recoup a lot of value in a trade? Won’t other teams be scared off by the injury concerns? I don’t see how we can have it both ways. Wish he was willing to do a deal similar to Johnathan Issac. There are obvious parallels there.
Tari is analytically one of the best we have, but damn there must be things we don't see (like medical). I think he is absolutely worth 20m a year, but sounds like we're gonna let this play out. I mean I would love to trade tari+ for derrick brown or something, but short of that he's worth more on our team imo.
Its also not surprising since you’ve mentioned this before and seems the team is worried, so confirms what some of us were thinking too. Nothing too groundbreaking and honestly you’ve been wrong about Westbrook coming so I’ll personally take the trade him with a grain of salt.
That's actually a fair point. We've got a whole season to play out. If Tari makes it clear he's the future then we just move one of the other players in our group of loads of 3/4's and that'll give us the space to give him what we need at the end of the season. If not then like you say, he may have to go elsewhere.
Having a look at available free agents next season, Thybulle brings better defence, similar shooting, but less dribble creation. Could possibly get him at the TaxMLE next off-season? Worth a look before throwing the bank at Tari...
Toumani Camara just got 4 years 82 million. I love Tari, but he doesn't play as much as Camara and I think Camara is pretty comparable as a player. It sounds like Tari wants the Rockets to bet on his health when he hasn't yet showed us he can play anything close to a full season. If he played near 82 games I am sure they would have thrown Keegan Murray/Christian Braun type money at him, but he doesn't.
After a rebuild, you’re lucky if you end up with two strong cornerstone pieces. Here, we have at least 3, and we still have a lot of assets going forward. The Trail Blazers have had high picks since 2022 and haven’t picked a single prospect anywhere near Sengun or Amen’s level, arguably even Bari’s level. They had to trade for their best young player in Deni, and even he has nowhere near Amen or Sengun’s upside.
I can't get inside his head .... Just looking at cap space league wide, it doesn't appear that any team can give the type of contract he's looking for, assuming that's similar to what they gave Jabari. The Rockets could but it wouldn't be wise. It would be an overpay. I think the top end of his potential offers is the NT-MLE and it's fairly likely Stone offered him something in that ballpark.
