Yes, the AFC South is sch1t mountain and winning it the past 10+ years has been a modest accomplishment at best.

The difference is BOB was gift-wrapped everything except a QB *AND* had full control of the team as GM.

BOB also had the wheel for 7 years and committed really stupid, rookie mistakes in-game over and over again.

Demeco, for whatever his faults, is actually a legitimate top flight defensive coach and does a good job in-game relative to his experience.

We're all disappointed, but let's not compare two things that are not even remotely similar just to cope.

Wasn't referencing about Demeco in a Caserio thread. I know the video has Bob, but I figure you can infer who I was implying it to. Get Demeco a better OC....someone with experience and knows what the hell he's doing.

Do you follow football at all? Yes there is a significant bias towards offensive minded coaches for HC hires, The Athletic had it at 67.6 % more recently dating back to 2019. I mean look at the examples I posted, Romeo Crennell spent 40 years coaching great defenses in the NFL, and spent three season as a HC (with only one franchise hiring him). Wade Phillips, Dick Lebeau, similar stories.

I realize that there are more HCs with offensive backgrounds recently, but the idea that it's "easier" to find a good DC vs. OC is silly.

Maybe there is a bit more market pressure on offense, but if you produce elite outcomes, you will get opportunities regardless.

I said "find and keep", and yes it is undeniably true that it is harder to do that with successful OCs than it is with DCs, it's just a fact.

Rarely do you see successful offensive coordinators stay in their positions for more than a couple years before teams are backing up the brinks trucks. You practically never see it. Unless it's a Eric Bienemy situation where he's just an extension of the head coach.

You will still get opportunities, but history shows that you will get less of them and you will definitely get less second chances than your offensive counterparts.

Precisely. Look at the Chiefs: Andy Reid doesn’t coach their defense; they hired one of the best to ever do it.

DeMeco’s faults are being amplified by the fact his defense has zero margin for error because the offense is one of the most pathetic units in the entire league.

Lopez not having it with the cronyism hires. Hannah must’ve given the code red to go in Caserio on the Texans FLAGSHIP station.

He's gone after the year. Hannah just getting the ball rolling...she's napped enough.

I was surprised to hear Lance Z say this morning that there’s no way he’d fire Caserio this year (Hour 3).

Do we really know if Demeco picked the OC or was it the GM....

Demeco is a team player, so he's going to go along with whom ever was picked...

Publicly they'll always say they make the decisions in tandem, but the reality is Nick is above Demeco in the org chart (as it should be).

We don't truly know to what extent Demeco has input over personnel decisions, but we do have the receipts of his defenses for several years and they are consistently great. Nobody should have a hard time drawing a straight line from Demeco's presence to the defenses performance.

But if Nick let Demeco freestyle on offense and this is the result... That's on Nick. It's his job to know when and how to step in.

Otherwise what the hell is he there for? Player contracts and trades?

Noel was one of the fastest WR's in the draft. Higgins ran in the low 4.4's

What makes you say this? According to Stoerner, Ryans has the most power in the Texans org other than Cal/Hannah.

You do realize last night Fairbarin kicked the ball to a returner that cost the Texans the 2 min timeout and probably any chance of winning the game. That was a HC screwup.

You're basically calling CJ a coach killer.
