Tari will be a RFA, why even trade him? If we wanted Pritchard we could have just traded the top 3 pick to get him, no point having both Reed and Pritchard on the same team.

I think we have depth issues at point guard. It could work out perfectly with Reed and Amen, but it’s also very possible we would need to bolster the position if we wanted to make a very deep run.

Also, I don’t think we should match what some team is going to offer Tari as a RFA.

We have JD and Holiday. Just kidding, we have Sengun and KD for playmaking and scoring. We need forwards more since our identity is strong defense and rebounding. The pg just gives the ball to Sengun, Amen and KD to let them cook.

If Sengun or KD get injured then thats the time to make a trade for a playmaker.

Yeah, I’m not betting my playoff run on JD Davison and Aaron Holiday.

    Sengun and KD bro.

Any guard we can get isnt a superstar so also wont make or break a playoff run so its a false argument.

I would go for no because Celtics don’t do negative trade and we could pick Tari up lower than Tari’s asking value next year. I don’t think he’ll see require minutes on the floor boost his value once DFS comes back. Dyson Daniel got $25 mil because he is top 3 defender last season so not sure how much Tari is asking but I think it’s more than $20mil which way too much for the player who missed half of the games

I love Tari but also have a soft spot for Payton Pritchard because I watched him play 4 years at Oregon.

Offensively, Pritchard is EXACTLY the player we all want Reed to become, so the deal would probably be Tari + Reed + a draft pick. He also has 3 years left on a super cheap contract he is outplaying by a mile.

IMO, Pritchard may be harder to pry away from the Celtics than Derrick White because he's one of the best values in the NBA.

I would be overjoyed to have him on the Rockets.

In before “We have Payton Pritchard at home. No.” ;)

Why would Boston? As @A_3PO said, he might have the best value contract in the league.

    25-26: $7,232,143
    26-27: $7,767,857
    27-28: $8,303,571

Yes, we have facilitators, but you can’t just pretend having to play JD Davison or Holiday in the playoffs wouldn’t be a huge weakness. Like I said, in a perfect world we wouldn’t have to because of Reed and Amen, but it’s a possibility it doesn’t work.

Amen wont work? Have you seen him last season? We are crowning him a max guy how will he not work?

If Reed doesnt work he should be the one traded not Tari. Why would we keep Reed if he doesnt work?

No. Because I think Prichard is nowhere near as good a player as Tari. Tari has an infinitely higher ceiling.

Pritchard is great value for his contract, but at the same time its not like he prevented Celtics from getting beat last year. Celtics couldnt play him a lot cuz just like other short guys he got manhandled and targeted on D in the playoffs.

Amen is going to have a monster season. I’m betting on that. The reason you trade Tari has to do with the money he’s going to require on the RFA market. Stone was right not to sign him today, and he won’t match on the RFA market for the same reason. It’s about getting value for him while we can.

Stone is already a step ahead with the DFS and JO signings.

DFS and Brooks are very similar players. Brooks has more personality and inspiring presence but historically DFS has the higher career 3 pt shot and is also 25% cheaper. Both are elite wing defenders who are losing a step due to age.
