Signing no extension would be a “one-year rental”. People are questioning his third year as a rocket, the PO year of his 1+1 extension.

Guys it was always going to be a 2-yr extension. Not sure anyone can complain about this at the price.

Love the deal. And hopefully when the contract ends in three years we will be giving Reed a bag.

That could be the case. We will see. It will be a 45M expiring contract, so really this is a win-win.

I dunno, his game is ageless. He may fall off slightly defensively but he’s always gonna be 7feet with one of the smoothest jumpers we’ve seen,

KD can afford to make that sacrifice lol
Not that Fred’s $190m career earnings isn’t “enough,” but it pales in comparison to KD’s career earnings and off-the-court endorsements and business deals.

Both of them can afford to take a discount, KD just put his money where his mouth is. Technically FVV should have given us more since we overpaid him for 2 yrs.

45million for KD even at 39 is great. There will be players getting 80m around then.

Arguing whether KD's worth $45M at age 39 is pointless. Maybe he's healthy, ages well, and is a massive bargain. Maybe he drops off dramatically and is a shell of his former self. That's the risk of a player this age.

The big question is how his contract impacts the ability to make future moves and keep this team together. We should be able to offer Amen a max extension and ::fingers crossed:: hopefully extend Tari as well. If that happens our future is secured and I don't care how much KD is paid.

I think Fred VanVleet established a mindset that was integral in obliterating the KPG and rookie Green “and 1” gymnastics. With Fred’s guidance, Green for all his inefficiencies showed tremendous growth in participation on defensive assignments; though he never grew into a defensive stopper, he at least wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty on defense.

Yes, Fred was overpaid on the surface, but he took the grittiness he’d been instrumental with the Raptor and brought it to Houston. Last I checked Toronto was doing too hot after they pivoted away from Fred in favor of Scottie Barnes.

Amen, Sengune, Jabari, Tari, Sheppard, even Green showed that tenacity that Fred displayed as floor general. Ime found the right guy to trot out as an example of what tenacity can do for a guy who wasn’t good enough to be drafted, but holds his own with anyone in the NBA.

Why though? There is no telling what he will be in 3 years. He’s the only player that had basically no drop off after Achilles injury. So who knows how long he can play. His game isn’t really dependent on athleticism. He’s just soo long and has such a beautiful shot.

Things can change but for everyone here thinking a 39-year-old Durant is planning to retire after making $45M need to think again. Durant lives for ball and I see him playing out his career like LBJ as long as he can still go. His game is about skill and not athleticism like Giannis. I think he already loves it here with the teammates and org. If this team is what we all think it is and wins, Durant isn't going to retire until the team can't go anymore. We are talking about Durant playing 3 years here when it could be 6 or 7.
