I don't think we'll find common ground on this. It amazes me how little credit FVV gets in general on this board.

You and Reed Sheppard's mom are the reasonable people with that opinion on Reed's defensive upside.

Ime Udoka would stare you down and immediately determine that you're a fool if you said all of that in front of him.

I have to agree with cmoak that Reed has the defensive potential. He went from HS to a year at Kentucky, and now he's playing against grown men. I see a world in which he becomes a terror on D.

    There's optimism and there's stupidity.

I appreciate your optimism with our new point guard. The comparison though is with FVV who has been an elite defensive point guard. Reed won't be able to achieve that level defensively.

Reed may someday become a better overall PG than FVV but it will be because of superior shot-making and playmaking on offense. It won't be because of defense.

Part of the argument is simply that FVV's contributions have been criminally underrated on this board. It's insane how many people would defend Jalen Green and how few would defend FVV. FVV is the single biggest reason we went from 22 to 41 wins a couple years ago. He's been a winning player for a long time. Reed has to prove something in real games before he deserves to even be compared to FVV. Especially defensively.

Let's hope that Reed improves a lot this season and the Rockets win the championship. It won't be because Reed Sheppard dominates defensively.

No we won’t find common ground.
Specially for someone that thinks FVV was ever elite defensively

Nah you said it may not be true but you have to believe it. Last thing we want is Reed believing he is MJ incarnate and demanding the ball from Amen, KD and Sengun.

I already got it, it's not me who's ADAMANT that Reed Sheppard is more explosive than a young D.Rose, that's Bobby and cmoak. Apparently I'M the crazy one though? o_O

Again, you're just too dumb to understand what you are talking about. It's no one else's fault.

You think Reed Sheppard has bigger hops than Zach Lavine, and I'm too dumb? Sure buddy, tell your carer it's tablet time.

I think testing showed he has a larger max vertical leap and you are too dumb to know what that means and what it doesn't mean.

Mugsy Bogues had a better max vertical than either of them.

You also think he has a higher max leap than D Rose, Russell Westbrook and many others at the same height, despite never ever ever jumping that high on tape anywhere ever. But yeah I'm the dumb on. Seriously, call the nurse, you need a nap.

It's not what anyone thinks, it's what testing proves.

Again, the fact that you are too dumb to know what that means is not anyone else's fault.

Your room temperature IQ takes are nothing new, but you are going out of your way to embarrass yourself on this one.

Sorry, you just don’t understand what you don’t understand.
Your eyes tell you one thing, but actual quantifiable factual data says you’re completely wrong.

It’s ok, you can be willfully ignorant all you want.
Also, you don’t understand the difference between explosion and max vert clearly.

Theres all kinds of different jumpers, Harden had a higher vertical than Dwade and a half inch difference than Russ.

Reed's admitted on camera that he cheated his result. You just can't accept it because you're r****ded, and that's ok. Just take your medication. If Reed had 42 inch vert he'd look like Ja Morant you ****ing moron. He'd have more hops than some of the most athletic point guards in history. And he's putting rim scrapers down whilst supposedly being both taller AND having higher vert? You're in idiot.

Like I said before, you're too dumb to know what a max vertical test shows.

Also, you've clearly never dunked a basketball before because if you were ever able to, you'd know the many factors that go into it.... things that have been spelled out to you before.

You're just a casual who plays too many video games.

He does have a higher max vertical. That might confuse you if you're also too dumb to know what that means and what it doesn't.

Lavine’s max vert is 46 inches. Go look at his Lakers pre-draft workout. Your dumbass is cherry picking the combine because it fits your narrative. No one with eyes and a functioning brain believes Reed Sheppard has more hops than ****ing Zach Lavine.

Fair enough, then that would be more than 42, so I would agree. I didn't look it up because I don't give a **** about Zach Lavine LOL. I assumed the reason he was mentioned is because that other knuckle dragger has been bringing up guys with under 42 inch max verticals who are great dunkers to suggest that Reed Sheppard doesn't have the max vertical that testing proved he had.

The issue in this conversation is that casuals are conflating max vert and dunk ability. There's A LOT more that goes into it.
