Couple things to note too, when Steph came into the league, he was older than Reed Sheppard is now because Steph wasn't seen as an NBA prospect at all until after 3 years of college ball. Also Steph was a massive defensive liability at first.
I'm really looking forward to all the insane high flying dunks from our point guard who's more explosive than Westbrook, young D.Rose and Zach Lavine.
Jumping ability and dunking ability is not the same bro.. and Reed wingspan is shorter than them.. Don’t know why you could think like that..
He's got significantly higher hops than Westbrook apparently, looking forward to him soaring through the air since his vert is almost half a foot higher than Russ' and he's taller.
What it comes down to is that he's just really stupid. He's had this spelled out for him multiple times, it doesn't help
Do you think Reed can become a defender like John Stockton, another small guard that's not particularly strong or fast but with good hands and anticipation.
Yeah I'm the stupid one who looks at the tape and doesn't believe Reed has close to young D.Rose's hops in his wildest dreams.
No, it's impossible to get away with all the crap stockton used to do these days short of being an nba golden child ala draymond, but for a regular team/player it's not possible.
Yes, you are quite obviously the stupid one. I've spelled this out for you multiple times now and you still think that max vert equals dunk prowess very likely because you've never played basketball....or probably any sport, before. Mugsy Bogues never recorded a single dunk, but he had a ridiculous 44 inch vertical....I guess in your mind he must have been a better dunker than Westbrook, right?
Whether he starts or not, I hope he gets 20 -25 minutes a game. I think he has earned it and the team will be better by the playoffs if he gets regular playing time.
Vertical is measured as difference between highest reach on the jump and highest standing reach. So he learned how to hold his arm/shoulder during standing reach so it looked like he was stretching when he was actually going short. Then he jumped all out so the difference was larger. It also explains his low standing reach, which (even later in this thread) people keep bringing up as a weakness. In reality he has average reach for his height and good but not great vertical.
Again, there is no way to fool any professional scout/tester to have any real variance. At most there’s an inch to two max that they can gain. Every shoulder is in the same spot relative to ear with a fully open and extended arm/shoulder. There is zero chance there’s 3+ inch variance in standing reach at a professional combine. Testers take pride in accuracy.
Im willing to hope for Brent Price level success. Not saying he’s going to be Steph but my point was that if Steph can do it.so can Reed. As a response to those who keep trying to write him off before he has begun. I think Reeds biggest obstacle is similar to what I perceive as Jabari’s. They both strike me as very “respectable young men” who will need “permission” from a strong male father figure to kick a$$. Good thing KD is here and Ime is one of those guys. I have high hopes for Reed though I realize it’s going to take some time. With a few years and more than a few attaboys I think he’ll grow into something very special.
Muggsy Bogues is 5 foot 3, Reed Sheppard is about the same height as D.Rose, and has a higher vertical. Show me ONE SINGLE instance of Reed on tape getting close to a young D Rose play? Literally one will do.
This is all I've been saying all along. But cmoak is absolutely dead set on being wrong to the point he's siding with bobbythe****ingweirdo because of his "expertise." Literally one ****ing video please of Reed jumping higher than young D.Rose? Considering I've been called every name under the sun by these 2 ****ing r****ds who can't just open their eyes and see they're wrong. It's ****ing not hard. One video. Let's see the ****ing proof?
