The entire prosecutor's office signed off on it.

Unlike some other cases we've seen recently.

Not a slam dunk when you factor it that he will have credible defenses of vindictive prosecution and select prosecution. Trump has been publicly telegraphing the need to indict him for months. And these are his own notes, unlike the documents found in the Mar a Lago bathroom that were marked in big letters "top secret", "secret" or "classified." As to selective prosecution, why were the charges against Walt Nauta dropped? He wasn't elected President. Finally, the number of former administration officials who took notes and kept them for later book deals is legion.

I don't think we know this - there is a very good chance that the Democratic Party in five years will be radically different than the Democratic Party the last thirty years. The Clinton/Obama Democrats had a really good run, but America is past that in 2025. That style of politics isn't working. Most of the old guard is gone or on it's way out. There is a real chance that the Democrats in 2030 may be quite radical compared to now.

Probably accurate. Democrats today are lurching towards being the party of the 20 big cities plus Aspen and Nantucket. Mamdani getting elected could really accelerate their decline.

MAGA is socially conservative fiscal liberal coalition and it's breaking our political parties.

You'd think, but when MAGA's completely broken policies destroy the already battered rural America, they're going to flock back to Democrats because that's how it is.

Rural America is doing well and this is one of the safest Republican areas. Gun policy, tax policy, Christian values… all important issues to them. Democrats are just not viable options on these issues.

When was the last time you were in Rural America?
It's all drug addicted alcoholics who work for warehouses because all the good factory jobs fled when Nixon told them they couldn't dump their toxic waste in the river. Or can't afford their electricity because Data Centers doubled their rates.

That's a cartoonish depiction of rural America. I am very in tune with rural America and Democrats are laughed at there. Their biggest issues are 2nd amendment, immigration, Christian values, and the economy. And Trump is seen (accurately) as performing on his campaign promises on these issues very well. Campaign promises are being kept.

I would also note that a key pillar in Trump's campaign strategy in 2024 was to make the red areas redder. They targeted rural America. And it worked.

They used social media to push blatant lies to great success.

Hillbilly Elegy tells the story of rural america as well as anyone.

Honestly- right now the only people I see that are happy with Trump are millennial white males with mediocre earning potential that feel kicking out Hispanics will some how lead to a pot of gold,…older social extremists that either believe in endless conspiracies or some bizarre Viking faith or Evangelical Christians….

MAGA is fiscally liberal? They just did the largest medicaid cut in history, largest SNAP cut in history nd ending ACA subsidies which will lead to 25 million people having their premium double. MAGA fiscally is no different than other GOP president.

MAGA is breaking our political parties cuz they went all in on culture wars and ANTI lgbtq. People like @Salvy arent MAGATs cuz of their fiscal policies. Hes MAGA cuz he enjoys the hate and conspiracies and feels like hes part of some reality TV show.

not to mention the $40 billion credit extended to a chronically liquidity-challenged country, enabling it to
sell large quantity of soy to China, who has not puchased any soy from US farmer in 2025
