To me, Herbert fades in big games, especially in the Playoffs. In addition, he still hasn't shown one trait that stands out. We all know that Stroud is highly accurate....Plus I continue to say, he has won in the playoffs.
Have you ever seen herbert play a game? You can say he's bad in the couple playoff games but saying "he still hasn't shown one trait that stands out" when he's maybe the most gifted pure thrower of the ball is insane.
Like I said, Herbert has not shown anything worthy of being considered a top QB. Players tend to show who they really are when the LIGHTS are the brightest
CJ has had exactly one good game in the playoffs. You’re definitely entitled to your opinion, but I don’t think it’s shared by experts.
Posting an update here bc it was rumored we were targeting a possible move back into the 1st for an OT. Supposedly it was for the Oregon guy that Washington drafted and Josh Simmons.
I like CJ. I hope he keeps it up and gets even better...but man can you imagine having Herbert leading this offense with this defense? Superbowl team. Anyways, we have CJ and I'll take him over any AFC SOUTH QBs.
"Of course I'd take Herbert over Stroud..." but then you say "with Harbaugh..." So which is it? How would CJ look with Harbaugh?
CJ currently has a better passer rating than Herbert, Mahomes, SB winner Jalen Hurts, right behind Josh Allen. QBR right between Herbert, Allen & Stafford. The 6th best completion % in the league. All of those names are either MVPS or Super Bowl winners, except Herbert. All of them arguably in better coaching or organizations. CJ must play good against good teams, & not stat pad vs cupcakes. But it doesn't appear CJ is headed the Deshaun Watson drain just yet. Still some time to go past "nice whatever" hollow Dak status
Give me a QB that wins in the Playoffs over a QB who doesnt any day. Thats just like choosing James Harden over Steph. Both are Top 15 players of all time but their Playoff records separate them.
Much different games between basketball and football. CJ has had a team to carry him in most of the starts in playoffs.
Nah CJ has played four postseason games, and been solid in at least three of them. His career playoff line: 66% completion, 976 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT, 100+ rating, that’s consistency. The Browns game was elite (274 yds, 3 TD, zero picks), and he also threw for 282 and a score against the Chargers last year with no real help from the O-line. Even in the Chiefs game he had 245 yards, no turnovers, and got sacked eight times. Most QBs fold in that kind of chaos with the amount of pressure the Chiefs did, plus that home cooking, but he kept them competitive. He just turned 24, already winning playoff games, and has never thrown more than one pick in the postseason. That’s composure. If this is his “rough start,” the AFC should be nervous when he hits his prime. Maye is ****ing tough but we dont need to sell CJ short. Both will be faces of the league for years to come.
I’m all about winning, but let’s be clear, the chargers game was won by the defense. One playoff game you can directly attribute a win to is that Cleveland game. I do hope he’s a face of the league for years to come. Right now he’s a middle of the pack QB and without the Ravens came a bottom third on the season.
I think that’s fair. Edit* in playoffs anyway. Regular season he’s been the best first 5 season in history
Not as good because you don't see Herbert being afraid to step up into the pocket like CJ is. Nope you see CJ fading backwards. Now if you give CJ a clean pocket he's a great thrower of the football. Unfortunately in the NFL consistently having a clean pocket to throw from is a pipe dream.
