I don't know that it deserves its own thread. Yeah, there is a streak of racism and fascism among politically-minded young Republicans. It's not much of a surprise to me. The scandal will probably also exaggerate in outsiders' minds just how racist and fascist they really are. There are probably members who are embarrassed and mad that their stupid loudmouth friends -- with whom maybe they do not agree, but they didn't rebuke them because they didn't want to cause a scene -- are now making them look bad. Imagine a breathless article about cf.net that quoted the most racist crap our rightwing trolls ever said here. Or almost as bad, the dumbest crap the left-wing posters have said over the years. I know I would feel unfairly maligned because of what other dumbasses here would be quoted as saying. So mostly I haven't paid much attention to the scandal until I saw this article about Gavin Newsom calling for a congressional investigation. Now, I know he is just trying to play some political gotcha and insinuate that Republicans are hypocritical for investigating 'antisemitism' in universities while turning a blind eye to this. But I'm offended by his suggestion (and also by the accusations of antisemitism). These chats are free speech. You can be racist in an online chat. You can say so-and-so should be put in a gas chamber. Investigations chill speech. Congress doesn't need to be within a thousand miles of this thing. And Newsom shouldn't be either. Just say it is deplorable and move on.

True story. Presidents of Ivey League schools were strong armed out of their jobs for permitting 1A protected speech ... on their campuses ... by their students. The VPOTUS thinks that young people on college campuses should be forgiven when they misspeak about Hitler, gassing Jews, raping women, hating N*gg*s, etc. All 1A protected speech. Thus, offensive 1A speech is not only allowed but is forgiven, when the speech is by conservatives. If liberals engage in 1A protected speech that the conservatives do not like, well then, as many lives will be destroyed as possible.
