Getting somewhere now, I am working with NBA League pass on my issues.

Apparently, because I bought it last year on YOUTUBE TV, and I am linked there, and this year on AMAZON Prime and that is linked, I have to unlink my Youtube account to watch on NBA.com

I have sent screenshots in....I think it is an API conflict......and it thinks I have 2 accounts - last year's and this years.

so your probably can’t even watch old, archived games. Which wouldn’t even require vpn. Yeah, that’s a major feature I loved about LP, is watching an earlier game in the season, or previous season.

I couldn't watch anything but once I unlinked my YouTube account I could, am currently watching last night's Rox game.

I think the Amazon issue is that they aren't carrying all the games yet.

Cool. So, can you test the Monday, Oct 13th Spurs game at nba.com. Should still be under the 3-day local blackout.

I can see it, yes, and not using VPN at all.

I guess the local blackout expired, then. We’ll have to wait and test the Spurs Friday game, but that’s your poker night though, right?

Are you saying you don’t even need a vpn?
I thought you were within the Spurs local blackout?

    @heypartner

OK, so I have a definitive answer for you, and you are going to like it...so far.

I bought Surfshark and league pass through NBA.com and didn't link any accounts. My Surfshark server is Dallas. I had the VPN active in Dallas before I signed up for league pass.

Once I signed up for league pass with Surfshark on, I went to the Pelicans game and got an error about being in the wrong region. Then I cleared my browsing data and it worked.

I am optimistic for the game tonight.

Another issue...screen mirroring to my TV doesn't work. Is there a way around this?

Well, as I don't watch the Spurs, maybe....but they are also on local TV, so I haven't noticed.....so you want me to try to watch the SPURS to test the local blackout rules and see if VPN works, and apply those findings to Houston.

    Got it.

I am guessing Chromecast would have the same issue as Airplay. The problem is that if you try to go through the NBA app on your phone it requires location services to be on.

At the end of the day, having to watch on a laptop is a worthwhile tradeoff given that VPN + NBA.com is a lot cheaper than fubo or something similar.

    Good test!

Unfortunately you won’t be able to test the next two games. Tonight’s game (ESPN2) and the opener v Thunder (Peacock) aren’t available on League Pass due to national blackouts. And national blackout games are available to all LP accounts next day, no stealth required. Only local blackouts last 3-days.

Luckily I have access to national games. As for the rest I’m 100% sure it’s gonna work. I’ll just have to hdmi to my tv for the local games.
