It was a discussion. Both can be very good. Also, Mayes last game was just as good as Strouds Baltimore game, against a better defense. Stroud needs to keep up the same play the next few games. Is it a fluke that he’s only been good in one game and one quarter or is he back on a roll like his rookie season?
Discussion was going sideways. And the Saints don’t have a good defense/team, but the Bills game was what I was focused on, which Maye looked great. I think it helps that the OL has played better the last couple of games, I do think CJ can keep it up.
Some of y'all never cease to amaze me. Texans apologists, with revisionist history, or outright knee-jerk reactions. CJ has had a crappy offensive line, no speed receiver to stretch the field, 2 messed up offensive coordinators, a shoulder injury, a head coach that has no idea how to managein-game, AND most of all...a three ring circus of an organization that hasn't changed a bit since it's disastrous genesis. CJ isn't the problem. Look to the McNairs.
Bills are bad on defense. However, I was referring to Maye at North Carolina. I havent talked about him much since has been in NE because he was a rookie on a struggling team. Would never judge a QB like that. Seen that too many times. That's why Bryce Young deserved more time.
Look at his OC. McDaniels sucks as a HC, but has won Super Bowls as an OC. First 16 games Stroud 6 - 300 yard games, Maye - 0. We know the Texans OL got worse as the season went on last season, and defenses adjusted to Slovik's scheme. Maye will probably have a better 2nd season because of McDaniels alone.
Never said he was bad, I said his opponents were not impressive. He lost TWICE to a BAD Georgia Tech team and had TERRIBLE performances against others. The opponents NC faced vs. what Ohio State did was night and day. That was the question about Maye I had vs. what people said about Stroud....even though he played MUCH better competition. That Georgia game sold me on Stroud.
Talent is still way in favor of the Texans. McDaniels is a solid OC but he’s not some savant that is working miracles. Maye is an elite talent
The Ohio St teams CJ played on had more talent than any team they played. Can’t say that for UNC They shared a common opponent in Notre Dame. The Georgia game was nice.
I can see you've actually watched 0 of Maye's games this year. What I've said is true and has nothing to do with FF or the stats you provided. What I'm saying is Maye looks more comfortable in the same offense than CJ does. This is the truth and you need to actually look at the games objectively then maybe you will be able to see who looks more comfortable in the offense. This doesn't mean CJ cant learn the offense, but he's not as far a long in the offense as Maye is at this point in the season.
In addition, banking on Joe Mixon carrying so much of the workload....no way he was going to stay healthy. And, the refusal to get a TE...
You're forgetting the playoffs. How CJ is playing now is how he was in the playoffs last year so that gives a lot of hope.
Absolutely. I’m not disagreeing with that. I’m hoping that the last game and a quarter is the real Stroud. That playoff Stroud is real. I want the kid to be elite, I defended him last season and early this season. But there’s no denying he was extremely mediocre last year and pretty bad the first 3 games this season.
He rates top 3 in the league in bailing clean pockets while Stroud is in the bottom 10 tied with Mayfield. I can dump stat after stat if needed since your agenda is crap. I’ve watched plenty of Maye. Eye test and stats back up everything I’ve said. But please go on.
I think all the pushback and hater-calling is because before the 2023 draft, @cmoak1982 said that he wouldn't draft a QB, ESPECIALLY NOT STROUD, and would pick Levis instead. Cited issues with stroud included his problems with pressure and yes, his lack of "wiggle/waggle". And that Levis was the 2nd coming of Josh Allen, but that the REAL treasure, was tanking again for Maye. FF, Stroud had one of the best rookie years in history, Levis was a weekly meme, and honestly, Jayden Daniels has looked better than Maye and he was never mentioned in the Maye/Williams conversation. Overall, you trashed Stroud coming out of college, and hyped the hell out of Maye and Levis. And now that Stroud has shown some growing pains and Maye has started to come around, you come to the Stroud thread to gloat. Its just weird considering who we are fans of. Not saying you are wrong, but you've been just as wrong as you have been right. And looking at your audience, being flabbergasted as to why people are challenging you seems pretty oblivious.
